Meet Our Team:
WBD Sports encompasses a wide range of sports brands and channels, reaching over 130 million people monthly in more than 200 markets and 20+ languages.
Key brands include Bleacher Report, Eurosport and TNT Sports. WBD Sports offers a comprehensive coverage of major sports events, like the Olympics in Europe, tennis Grand Slams and road cycling Grand Tours (e.g. Tour de France) across various platforms including TV and streaming services like Max and Discovery+.
Additionally, it manages and promotes 55 global events annually. TNT Sports UK features exclusive live sports such as the Premier League and UEFA Champions League.
Roles & Responsibilities:
As we continue to grow and innovate in a fast-paced, highly-competitive digital environment, we are seeking a Sr. Staff Software Engineer who will be a key member of the WBD Global Sports Tech team, responsible for building and maintaining systems supporting Warner Bros. Discovery’s family of Sports products/brands, including Eurosport, NCAA/MML, and Bleacher Report. You will work closely with product/project managers, users, development staff, and senior leadership to implement designs, develop and deploy fan-facing solutions.
Drive strategic architecture investments across the WBD Sports platform, taking a function-wide view of technical solutions and their long-term implications.
Independently map business and product needs to engineering projects, driving initiatives from conception through completion with minimal oversight.
Serve as a key influencer in sports platform strategy, contributing significantly to both tactical execution and long-term technical vision.
Ensure implementation of comprehensive test coverage, resiliency, disaster recovery, and operational excellence practices across Sports products and systems.
Demonstrate excellent ability to document technical solutions and articulate them to both business and technical audiences.
Present, advocate and champion engineering perspectives.
Participate in Agile ceremonies and show ownership of work throughout the sprint process.
Build and maintain highly available, low-latency systems that successfully serve sports content to customers in production environments.
Integrate service health, monitoring, alerting and documentation capabilities in parallel to your software development deliverables.
Coach and mentor engineers up to Senior Software Engineer level, providing input to leadership on team development needs and growth opportunities.
What to Bring:
13-16 years of demonstrated expertise in building scalable Android applications, including experience with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
Strong knowledge of GraphQL, including schema design, fragment management, and client/server integration.
Advanced proficiency in TDD, unit/integration testing strategies, and establishing testing standards across complex applications.
Experience with Coroutines and dependency injection (Dagger, Hilt, etc)
Proficiency with Gradle, multi-module monorepos, and dependency management.
Experience translating complex design features into modular components using design software (e.g., Figma).
Experience architecting and maintaining large-scale, modular codebases.
Ability to design and implement robust APIs and data transport layers.
Solid performance optimization and monitoring expertise for high-traffic applications.
Ability to create functional-level impact and deliver complex features with little to no oversight.
Effective communication skills as exemplified by technical documentation deliverables, and stakeholder and adjacent team interactions.
Leadership in technical decision-making, mentoring, and cross-team collaboration.
Fluency in English is a must.
Bonus Skills
Experience with Apollo GraphQL or similar frameworks.
Experience working with design tokens.
Exposure to sports, media, or entertainment platforms.

Deployment: Automated using Github Actions, Firebase App Distribution
