They include a broad space from firewall rules, microsegmentation, VPCs everywhere, L2 stretch, Smart NICs, VirtIO, and more. Nutanix is very much a one-stop shop for virtualization, storage, and networking. We’re pushing the boundaries of what is possible in a converged stack that goes from compute down to storage, and across via networking. Features that let us run workloads on premises, or in the cloud, demand a robust stack that can keep going regardless of failures or spur-of-the-moment decisions to rebalance with no downtime. **About the Team** The Networking organization is spread across the world, but has very little presence in Durham to date. We are looking for a senior person who can build up a team around themselves and focus on the unsolved problems we have in this big area. You would of course interact with peers in San Jose and Bangalore and beyond, but would also be responsible for deciding how to build a new team and mentor junior engineers in their roles. You will report to the VP of Engineering, who provides strong leadership and guidance for the team. This role is hybrid, based in our Durham, NC, where you will be expected to be in the office 3 days per week. This setup allows for a balance of in-person collaboration and remote work flexibility, ensuring team connectivity and productivity. **Your Role** + Lead technical direction for major projects in Networking + Tackle problems that span across the organization, interacting with teams from VM management, hardware, storage, and further + Work with UX developers, coders, and quality engineers to deliver on the vision + Write blogs and papers, file patents, go to customer briefings, occasionally + Mentor existing and new junior hires to bring them to the next level **What You Will Bring** + Deep knowledge of C++, python, go + Experience with architecting new systems and adapting to existing ones + BS/MS in CS or a related area, hopefully with lots of experience, 10-15+years + Good knowledge of virtualization, networking, and existing storage solutions + Familiarity with containers, databases, and cloud **Work Arrangement** Hybrid: This role operates in a hybrid capacity, blending the benefits of remote work with the advantages of in-person collaboration. For most roles, that will mean coming into an office a minimum of 3 days per week, however certain roles and/or teams may require more frequent in-office presence. Additional team-specific guidance and norms will be provided by your manager. The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between USD $ 240,000 and USD $ 480,000 per year. However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered.
