Job Title: Senior Staff Accountant
Job Description
Under the supervision of the accounting manager/controller, the Senior Staff Accountant will provide financial analytical assistance and oversight to accounting functions. The role involves preparing consolidation packages for financial reporting, supporting inventory count procedures, administering equipment inventory, and preparing financial information for audits. The Senior Staff Accountant will be responsible for reconciling various sub-ledgers and general ledger account balances, conducting monthly analyses of inventories and cost variances, and ensuring compliance with business license renewals and tax filings.
Responsibilities
+ Assist in preparing consolidation packages for financial reporting.
+ Support daily inventory cycle count and semi-annual physical inventory count procedures.
+ Administer equipment inventory, ensuring proper tagging, transferring, and disposal.
+ Conduct annual equipment inventory and reconcile master equipment list at year-end.
+ Prepare financial information or disclosures for the annual audit.
+ Reconcile sub-ledgers and general ledger account balances for Inventory, A/R, A/P, etc.
+ Prepare monthly petty cash and bank reconciliations.
+ Reconcile inter-company transactions on a monthly/quarterly basis.
+ Perform monthly analysis of on-hand and slow-moving inventories.
+ Conduct cost variance analysis and analysis of freight charges.
+ Support compliance matters such as business license renewals, sales tax filings, and annual report filings.
+ Back up and support accounting associate positions responsible for accounts receivable and accounts payable.
+ Assist accounting manager in monthly close of financial records and audits coordination.
+ Monitor bank accounts to maintain appropriate cash balance and initiate book transfers as needed.
+ Prepare various reports as requested on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in accounting, general ledger, and reconciliation processes.
+ Experience in month-end procedures and fixed assets management.
+ Strong skills in balance sheets and financial reporting.
+ Knowledge of manufacturing, audit, SOX compliance, and cost accounting.
+ Proficiency in Sage 100 and ERP systems.
+ Fluency in English with bilingual skills in Japanese as a plus.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with 5 years' related work experience or equivalent.
+ Strong PC skills, especially in Excel.
+ Experience in accounts receivable operations is advantageous.
+ Organizational skills and attention to detail.
+ Ability to meet deadlines and work overtime during busy periods.
+ Strong customer service focus and professional business demeanor.
+ Ability to think independently and solve problems analytically.
Work Environment
The position is on-site and may require overtime during month-end and year-end close periods. The Senior Staff Accountant will work in a dynamic environment that values autonomy, with a publicly traded company offering significant benefits. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $40.00/hr.
