UST is seeking a highly skilled Senior Database Administrator (DBA) with a strong focus on support, operations, and engineering of SQL Server and cloud-based databases. In this role, you will be a hands-on contributor responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and scalability of database environments through proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, automation, and strategic improvement initiatives.

As a Lead I in Cloud Infrastructure Services, you will play a key role in enhancing database reliability and performance, driving best practices, mentoring junior DBAs, and supporting critical infrastructure projects across cloud and on-premises environments.

Key Responsibilities 1. Database Technology Engineering & Planning (60%)

Evaluate, design, and implement technologies to optimize performance, scalability, and reliability of SQL and cloud-based databases.

Lead efforts to modernize the database platform with emerging tools and technologies, focusing on Microsoft SQL Server and Azure.

Document and promote best practices for database development, maintenance, and deployment across teams.

Stay updated on advancements in SQL Server and cloud database platforms (e.g., Azure SQL, AWS RDS) to identify and drive strategic improvements.

Act as a mentor to junior team members and share technical knowledge effectively.

2. Database Operations & Support (40%)

Provide end-to-end support for Microsoft SQL Server databases (on-premise and cloud), including monitoring, replication, backup, recovery, and patching.

Ensure smooth operations of environments supporting both custom and third-party applications.

Manage and troubleshoot database automation, replication processes, and backup strategies.

Support cloud-based environments (IaaS and PaaS) and enforce security best practices.

Participate in on-call rotation and perform other related duties as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server, replication, and Azure SQL.

Hands-on experience with Terraform: reusable modules, state management, and workspaces.

Proficiency with GitHub, GitHub Actions, and CI/CD workflows.

Solid understanding of cloud database fundamentals (Azure, AWS preferred).

Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills in high-availability environments.

Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work independently on complex technical challenges and as part of a collaborative team.

Knowledge of infrastructure as code (IaC), DevOps principles, and database automation tools.
