What will you do in this role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Protection (Backup and Recovery) Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in designing, developing, implementing, and managing backup and recovery solutions to ensure data integrity and availability. This role

requires a deep understanding of various backup technologies and tools, as well as advanced knowledge of data protection strategies across cloud platforms.

What should you have :

Design, develop, and maintain advanced backup and recovery solutions using tools such as Commvault, AWS Backup, Azure backups, PPDMDevelop and implement automated solutions for backup and recovery processes to enhance efficiency and reduce manual interventionCreate and manage self-service features for customers to facilitate their own backup and recovery tasks, improving user experience and operational efficiencyLead the optimisation of backup processes, ensuring data is backed up according to established schedules and policiesMonitor and troubleshoot complex backup and recovery operations, addressing issues proactively and providing expert guidanceCollaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement comprehensive data protection strategiesConduct regular testing of backup and recovery processes to ensure effectiveness, reliability, and compliance with industry standardswork with product manager to define the product roadmap and own/run/participate in agile ceremoniesMaintain detailed documentation of backup configurations, processes, and proceduresStay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies related to data protection and recovery, and provide thought leadership within the organization.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related fieldRelevant certifications (e.g., Commvault Certified Expert) are highly desirable

Experience:

Minimum of 7 years of experience in backup and recovery engineering or a related field, with a focus on senior-level responsibilitiesProven experience with backup solutions such as Commvault, AWS backups, Azure backups, PPDM, RMAN, BRTools and familiarity with Cohesity, Rubrik, and othersExtensive experience with automation tools, specifically Ansible Tower, for backup and recovery processesFamiliarity with Hyperscale 1.5 and Hyperscale X architectures.Experience with Data Protection as a Service (DPA) solutionsHands-on experience with cloud platforms, specifically AWS and Azure, for backup and recovery solutionsIn-depth experience with Dell Data Domain storage systems

Skills:

Strong understanding of backup and recovery methodologies and best practices, with the ability to apply this knowledge to complex scenariosProficiency in scripting and automation (e.g., Python, PowerShell) to enhance backup processes and develop automated solutionsAdvanced knowledge of storage technologies and architectures, including Dell Data DomainFamiliarity with self-service portal tools and frameworks for customer interactionExcellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issuesStrong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholdersAbility to mentor junior engineers and lead projects independentlyIn-depth knowledge of data protection regulations and compliance requirementsExtensive experience with disaster recovery planning and executionExperience with different operating systems (e.g., windows servers, RHEL) and container solutions (e.g., Kubernetes)Familiarity with cloud-based backup solutions and hybrid environmentsStrong analytical skills to assess backup performance and identify areas for improvementExperience with Dell Data Domain storage systems.
