Senior Software Quality Engineer

Lead Quality Engineering efforts for kernel security features, issues and vulnerabilities in Red Hat Linux products.

*Telecommuting permitted: work may be performed within normal commuting distance from the Red Hat, Inc. office in Lowell, MA.
 

What You Will Do:

Conduct functional and regression testing across all Red Hat Linux support streams and Red Hat Kernel issues, reporting and debugging problems identified during testing.Design and implement automated testing pipeline for Red Hat Kernel projects, troubleshooting new and existing issues to optimize testing efficiency.Design and develop cross team workflow tool for Red Hat Linux Products.Create specific testing plans for various Red Hat Kernel security projects on multiple system architectures, defining criteria for test success.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify feature requirements, allocate resources, and draft roadmaps for future Red Hat Kernel project development.Guide and mentor new team members in executing tests, developing comprehensive test plans, and effectively utilizing internal tools and systems.Coordinate with managers to assess and procure new equipment to expand the Red Hat Linux project test matrix and maintain the hardware environment.

What You Will Bring:

Bachelor's degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science or related field and three (3) years of experience in job offered or related role.Must have three (3) years of experience with: Linux operating system and kernel; writing test code in Linux bash, Python or C; communicating technical details to other stakeholders as well as management and co-workers; computer architectures in a practical environment to diagnose problems and develop proper tests; working in a collaborative open-source environment; and handling security vulnerabilities.Must have one (1) year of experience understanding business needs and how they relate to enterprise software development.

The salary range for this position is $121,790 - $194,740. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.

Pay Transparency
Red Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location, experience, applicable skills and training, external market value, and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hat’s compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity. For positions with Remote-US locations, the actual salary range for the position may differ based on location but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
