Senior Software Engineer (m/f/d) for Computer Assisted Orthopedic Surgery

We are looking for a highly motivated and driven individual to join our R&D team. As an integral member of our global Digital, Robotics, and Enabling Technologies (DRE) organization, you will play a key role in developing cutting-edge medical technology that transforms orthopedic surgery, with the goal to significantly improve patient outcomes.

What You Will Do: 

Design, develop, and enhance advanced software solutions for computer-assisted orthopedic surgery.

Implement software frontend and backend components using C++/Qt and QML/JavaScript on a Linux-based platform.

Integrate robotic technologies into clinical solutions, contributing to the next generation of orthopedic surgical systems.

Analyze, understand, and improve codebase to increase performance, stability, and maintainability.

Create solutions with real impact—directly contributing to improving surgical outcomes and saving lives.

Tackle complex problems, identify potential solutions, and evaluate them against both component- and system-level requirements.

Use UML to document and communicate software architecture and design decisions effectively.

Collaborate across divisions, combining technologies from surgical navigation and robotics.

Gain deep insights into medical workflows by attending surgeries and working closely with our clinical marketing team.

What are we looking for?

Required:

You have an advanced degree in computer science, software engineering, medical technology, mathematics, electrical engineering or comparable.

Solid experience developing software using object-oriented programming, particularly with C++.

Ability to transform SW requirements into robust design and implementation.

You bring along a strong drive for Medical Device Engineering.

Your high degree of adaptability and flexibility makes it easy for you to integrate into an existing team and to operate in a complex international environment.

A very good command of English and ideally good written and spoken German round off your profile.

Preferred:

2-3 + years of experience with C++ in combination with the Qt framework for developing software applications.
