**About the Role** As an Android Engineer on the Checkout Platform team, you'll work on the code that powers the checkout experience in all Uber apps. We enable our users to pay with all payment methods globally. We're looking for engineers to extend our platform with new capabilities for all Uber customers. Extend Uber's Checkout Platform with new capabilities. 2. Enable these new capabilities for a wide range of Uber lines of business. 3. Work closely with backend engineers and cross-platform developers to build Checkout Platform and a seamless user experience. 4. Partner with Product, Partner Platform, Design, and Research teams to understand product ideas and business needs and help deliver these as a series of experiments. 5. Implement native UI with the latest iOS/Backend technologies. 6. Come up with the right architecture and design for ideas and experiments to quickly scale. 7. Good understanding of software experimentation philosophy in the earlier work with an understanding of setting up A/B experiments for hypothesis testing. 8. Orchestrate rollouts that span across both mobile and backend systems. \-\-\-\- Basic Qualifications ---- 01. 6+ years of full-time Android engineering experience with good understanding of Android SDK, different versions of Android, and how to deal with different screen sizes 02. Experience in object oriented programming, multithreading, networking, offline storage, memory management and source control management (git) 03. Familiarity with RESTful APIs to connect Android applications to back-end services 04. Great understanding of Android UI design principles, patterns, and best practices 05. Knowledge of the open-source Android ecosystem and the libraries available for common tasks 06. Familiarity with cloud message APIs and push notifications 07. A knack for benchmarking and optimization 08. Strong focus on high-quality mobile UI experiences. Experience with UI/UX paradigms to build sophisticated user experiences 09. Experience working with product and design teams 10. Experience analyzing a feature in production using analytics and experiments 11. Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements \-\-\-\- Preferred Qualifications ---- 1. Knowledgeable in Reactive programming (RxJava) and Kotlin 2.
