We’re looking for a Principal Software Engineer to lead the design and development of mission-critical software within the space and satellite systems domain. In this role, you’ll collaborate with a high-performing engineering team to deliver robust, reliable solutions that ensure mission success—on the ground and in orbit.
What You’ll DoDesign and develop highly reliable embedded software tailored to mission and engineering needs.Rapidly troubleshoot and implement solutions for unexpected issues during ground testing or on-orbit operations.Contribute to satellite system architecture and design discussions.Build and test prototypes to validate design concepts and technical constraints.Lead software development efforts, including design and code reviews.Ensure compliance with standards, specifications, and quality systems.Serve as a technical authority on projects, evaluating new approaches and guiding system specifications.Communicate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.Foster a collaborative, respectful, and inclusive team culture.What You Bring10+ years of experience in embedded C/C++ software development.Deep expertise in Linux-based embedded systems and concurrent programming(multi-threading, asynchronous processing, MPC).Strong understanding of networking, cybersecurity fundamentals, and software-defined radio (SDR).Experience with virtualization tools(e.g., VirtualBox, QEMU) and simulation/emulation environments.Familiarity with optical sensors, image processing, and RF performance analysis.Ability to implement drivers from vendor documentation.Proficiency with hardware interfaces (RS232, SPI, I2C, CAN, LVDS, SpaceWire) and tools like SPICE or Altium.Comfortable working with and modifying large, existing codebases.Experience with CI/CD pipelines and FPGA design(VHDL/Verilog).Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate multiple solutions.Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).At least 5 years of experience in commercial space software development.Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $69.00 - $72.00/hr.
