Senior Software Engineer, Telco Senior Integration Engineer

Red Hat Engineering is seeking a passionate and experienced Senior Solution Engineer to drive the future of telecommunications. In this pivotal role, you'll be instrumental in developing cutting-edge platform reference architectures, leveraging Red Hat's Telco 5G product offerings. You'll contribute to an industry-leading team, shaping the Kubernetes ecosystem for advanced RAN use cases in both 5G and 6G telecommunication networks.

This is a unique opportunity to be embedded directly with a leading Telco partner in the vibrant Seoul area, acting as Red Hat's key representative. You'll collaborate globally with diverse Red Hat engineering and Product Management teams, as well as open source communities, making a significant impact on worldwide telecommunication infrastructure.

We're looking for someone driven by curiosity, passionate about problem-solving, and possessing a strong background in Telco technologies, AI, Linux, Kubernetes, and open source.

What You'll Do

Innovate & Design: Collaborate closely with Telco partners to create, review, prototype, and validate groundbreaking designs and enhancement proposals.

Integrate & Validate: Play an active role in researching and integrating various OpenShift and Telco-specific features into unified solutions. Proactively test new technologies, experiment, and deliver compelling proof-of-concept demonstrations.

Accelerate Containerization: Partner with Telco companies to accelerate the containerization of their workload offerings and seamlessly integrate them with the Red Hat OpenShift platform, ensuring unparalleled functionality, performance, and reliability for Tier-1 and Tier-2 5G/6G networks worldwide.

Champion Best Practices: Actively advocate for robust certification and continuous integration (CI) processes with Telco partners.

Promote Key Technologies: Champion the Red Hat Telco stack, including universal base images (UBI), Red Hat Enterprise Data Plane Development Kit (RHEL DPDK), and the OpenShift Operator Framework.

Strategic Collaboration: Work hand-in-hand with project managers, product managers, and engineering teams to establish predictable schedules for critical partner deliverables.

Share & Mentor: Contribute to the team's collective success by generously sharing your work and expertise. Mentor and educate junior-level team members, fostering a culture of growth.

Amplify Our Impact: Publicize the team's achievements through engaging blogs, web postings, and impactful conference presentations.

Problem Solve: Proactively troubleshoot, analyze bugs, determine root causes, and provide effective resolutions for partner issues discovered during integration work.

What You'll Bring

Kubernetes/OpenShift Mastery: 5+ years of hands-on experience with Kubernetes and/or OpenShift technologies.

Exceptional Partner Management: Demonstrated skills and experience in managing partners and customers.

Architecture & Configuration Expertise: Proven hands-on skills in developing reference architectures and validated configurations from conception to implementation.

Networking Acumen: Strong experience with networking technology (server, switch, or appliance configuration), key networking protocols, tunneling technologies, switching, and routing.

Linux Proficiency: Proficient in Linux operation and administration.

AI Tooling Savvy: Demonstrated proficiency in leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs) like Google Gemini, and Cursor for tasks such as brainstorming solutions, deep technical research, summarizing complex documentation, drafting communications, and enhancing problem-solving efficiency throughout the development lifecycle.

Agile Learner & Knowledge Sharer: Ability to quickly learn new technologies and effectively share knowledge with team members, partners, and peers.

Support & Enablement: Comfortable providing expert support and knowledge transfer to partners as they onboard new Red Hat and open source technologies.

Deep Telco Domain Knowledge: Extensive Telco-specific knowledge and experience, including:

High Availability

Performance characterization and optimization

NFV architecture

Edge designs

O-RAN architecture

Bilingual Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Korean.

Considered a Plus

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical working experience.

Strong experience with automation tools and/or scripting languages (Ansible, Bash, Python, GO).

Hands-on experience with Red Hat OpenShift, Open vSwitch (OVS), and Open Virtual Network (OVN).

CKA certifications.

Experience with container-related technologies (Docker / Podman, CRI-O, etcd).

RHCE or equivalent RHEL knowledge.
