Job Purpose

As part of the company development strategy, we need to grow talent in specific areas needed to continue development of firmware for our GNSS and MC products.

The Senior Software Engineer, Embedded Applications will work on development of application firmware for GNSS receivers and also on maintaining firmware for previous GNSS receiver.

Core Job Responsibilities:

Works with the project manager, team leader and software team to plan and manage delivery schedulesActs as the single point of contact for all issues related to a particular software module development, high level design and delivery, and as such works with all other engineering disciplines.Evaluates and schedules all changes in scope of module design and deliveryPerforms modules maintenance, modifications, and enhancements to new/existing systems through programming, testing, documenting.Works on developing services and applications working as part of embedded firmware for custom hardwareFollows, recommends, and implements software processesProvides technical directions to others as necessaryAnalyze and resolve technical and application problemsWork with HW teams on testing procedures for various HW subsystemsDevelopment application-specific message exchange protocols (IMU, digital radio and others)Development of internal messaging APIs to communicate with peripheral devices via SPI, i2c buses (like IMU)

Minimum Job Requirements

Education & Experience

University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Electronics, or a related field.3+ years of professional experience in C++ development, with a focus on embedded development for Linux.Overall software development experience for at least 8 years.Experience in software development process implementation.Experience with software development tools (containers, configuration management, design, emulation, debugging, compliers, test etc.)Experience with GNSS and/or Optical Survey will be a plus

Knowledge, Skills & Attributes

Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and software design principles.Knowledge of algorithms, data structures, multithreading and Realtime development concepts.Expert knowledge in C++, Standard Library, BoostExperience with Yocto, Buildroot, or other Linux build systems.Knowledge of Networking protocols, including REST, TCP/IP, TLS, VPN, firewall implementations.Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automated testingKnowledge of bug tracking systems (JIRA) and version control systems.Ability to read digital schematics.Knowledge of DockerExperience with bare-metal and/or RTOS (ex. FreeRTOS) developmentExperience with microcontrollers programming Experience working with oscilloscope and hardware debuggers (JTAG)Experience with code optimization (performance, memory consumption) A good command (both written and speaking) of ENGLISH language is required for the job
