Senior Sales Operations Planner (On-Premise) - Japan

Meaningful Work From Day One

You will be responsible for improving the overall productivity and effectiveness of the sales organization and will work with internal and external stakeholders to achieve all goals related to the sales organization. Specifically, you will be responsible for planning and managing the sales budget, developing sales guidelines, establishing sales processes, and other support functions essential to improving the productivity of the sales organization (including strategy development/management/reporting, goal setting/management, sales process optimization, sales program implementation, and rebate design and management). Team player with a strategic and organizational mindset and the ability to build good working relationships with sales companies.

What You Can Expect

Develop sales strategies, goals and budgets by major bar suppliers, major food and beverage outlets (including chain accounts)  in the sales organization

Develop and manage commercial policies (terms of sale, rebates)

Sales data analysis 

Data analysis and reporting on sales forecasting, sales planning and budget processes used within the sales organization

Proactively monitor and exercise control over the sales team's planning activities to ensure a high level of quality, accuracy, and process consistency

Preparing analyses and recommendations for sales, marketing, and other internal stakeholders

Provide planning support to other functions and stakeholders within B-F Japan (sales and business planning)

Work closely with Sales & Trade Marketing to plan and execute merchandising campaigns in the on-trade

Maintaining a combined sales/promotions dashboard and maintaining and optimizing essential customer information

Maintain promotional data in the sales department and work with other functional departments to set queries to match promotional guidelines

Create product allocations for existing/new or potential customers

Work closely with the finance team to monitor pricing and discount costs by brand and customer

Be a driving force within the Brown-Forman Commercial Way sales team

Act as a senior planner, coaching sales as needed on how to work with on-trade customers (wholesalers, commercial liquor stores, and food and beverage outlets) 

Continuous Improvement

Proactively identify and identify opportunities for sales process improvement

Engage the organization for continuous process improvement

Work with sales management and IT to develop and optimize our internal tools to improve the accuracy of sales forecasts

Other Responsibilities

Upload customer rebates and promotional invoices to our internal platform and process them in the system on a temporary administrative basis

Consistently lead and support the execution of company strategies and initiatives

Proactively engage the sales market to ensure compliance with laws, policies and best practices

Spend time with the sales team and third party merchandisers to understand their role, including the opportunities and challenges they face

Engage in various business optimization projects as needed

Other duties as needed

What You Bring to the Table

 5+ years of experience in sales planning, sales management and trade marketing (departments involved in commercial processes) in FMCG

Understand standard Route to Consumer in Japan. Supplier - Wholesaler - Indirect Customer - Bars and restaurants (on-premise)

Knowledge of trade margins and rebates in the FMCG industry. Knowledge of trade margins in the Western liquor industry is preferred.

Excellent analytical skills, problem solving focused industry knowledge and solutions

Excellent presentation skills, able to explain sales and analytical results in a clear, concise, and visually appealing manner

Self-starter with proven ability to identify problems and projects, plan, prioritize, organize and manage multiple projects to completion by specific deadlines

Ability to think strategically, with a high degree of business acumen and judgment

Personal honesty and integrity. Strong work ethic with the ability to invest the time necessary to achieve objectives

Excellent communication skills (influencing, listening, presenting, writing)

Stakeholder awareness and ability to build strong relationships at all levels 

Collaborative team player with strong conflict management skills

Adaptable, flexible and resilient 

Highly IT literate - MS Office applications and Google Suite

Highly proficient in Excel/Google Sheets for analysis 

What Makes You Unique

Alcohol industry experience with knowledge of trade margins and rebates, particularly  in the premium and super-premium imported spirits industry (wholesale, bar suppliers, and on-premise outlets).

Experience working for a foreign company, especially a U.S. or European company

English language proficiency
