Position Overview:
We are urgently looking for a talented and experienced Senior Safety Verification and Validation Engineer to join a dynamic team supporting the design and licensing of advanced nuclear reactor technology. This is an impactful role that requires deep technical expertise as well as a commitment to safety and innovation within the nuclear energy sector.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Lead the verification and validation (V&V) of safety analysis software and evaluation models critical to our licensing processes, specifically regarding Licensing Basis Events (LBEs) and Design Basis Accidents (DBA) without radionuclide release.
+ Develop and implement comprehensive assessment bases, including benchmarks and relevant experimental tests, to ensure the rigor and accuracy of safety analyses.
+ Identify and quantify uncertainties in experimental data and contribute to the development of benchmark models in alignment with NRC’s Regulatory Guide 1.203.
+ Coordinate and execute safety computer code V&V test programs, including Separate Effect Tests (SETs) and Integral Effect Tests (IETs), both internally and externally.
+ Conduct system transient codes development and maintenance, performing reactor transient analyses, software commercial-grade dedication, and code adequacy evaluation.
+ Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of engineers to establish performance, safety, and quality requirements for core and reactor systems.
+ Prepare detailed code benchmark documentation and support scaling analyses as necessary.
+ Conduct engineering reviews and provide subject matter expertise for other projects within the Sodium Fast Reactor (SFR) Program.
Qualifications and Skills:
+ A Master's or Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the nuclear industry.
+ Extensive experience in safety software verification and validation activities, particularly with nuclear safety analysis tools such as RELAP5-3D, TRACE, MELCOR, SAS4A/SASSYS-1, or SAM.
+ Strong understanding of nuclear thermal-hydraulic fundamentals, reactor dynamics, and transient phenomena.
+ Familiarity with EMDAP and NRC’s Regulatory Guide 1.203 is required; experience with SFR safety methods is highly desirable.
+ Proven skills in programming languages such as Fortran, C++, or Python.
+ Demonstrated expertise in quantitative analysis, modeling, reporting, and working within quality assurance programs, specifically NQA-1 requirements.
+ Ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams, fostering open communication and collaboration.
