Senior SaaS Cloud Capacity Engineer
Oracle
What You'll Do
Capacity Engineering – As a Strategic Capacity Engineer, you will immerse yourself in the end-to-end configuration, technical architecture, and overall behavioral characteristics of the SaaS production services you collaborate with. In partnership with the SaaS Product teams, you will have the responsibility to ensure that mission critical services are optimized for OCI cloud capacity at scale as prioritized by the SaaS organization. You will meet regularly with the service(s), translating OCI Cloud technology designs to the product need for capacity and technology, and projecting forward to ensure that the service has a healthy reliability on capacity and is optimized year over year. Cost Engineering Support – A significant responsibility for this organization is to translate SaaS capacity architectures to business cost engineering initiatives, driving down infrastructure cost margins while improving reliability for our customers. This role will engage regularly with peer Cost Engineers on cost efficiency initiatives and forecasting efforts, tuning their understanding of the SaaS architectures into cost baselines and models for executive management. Capacity Run the Business Support – You will understand and be able to communicate the scale, capacity, performance attributes, and requirements of the services you work with to turn over detailed and deeply analyzed roadmaps to our Cloud Capacity Run the Business organization. These will define service capacity demand characteristics including tuning, optimization, scaling, as well as monthly/annual demand and technical roadmaps inflections over time. Automation – You will have a clear understanding of automation and orchestration principles, and will be eager to help automate, wherever and whenever the possibility arises, while simultaneously eliminating technical debt. Automation will be performed in partnership with peer data warehouse and AI/ML Ops teams where work will often involve translating technical architecture of complex and highly scalable products into development and proposing cloud feature enhancements. Technical Expertise - You will have a deep understanding of cloud capacity topologies, and their dependencies. You will bring this expertise to bear in driving cloud capacity reliability improvements in the services you engage with. Your background may encompass a prior strategic role as a DBA (Oracle DB preferred), middle-tier engineer, network engineer or any number of engineering in-depth roles that will help you in this position to grasp multiple complex architectures and translate these to hardware/cloud capacity supply. Broad Interests – SaaS Cloud Capacity Engineers are driven by professional curiosity, and a desire to develop deep horizontal understanding of their services and their dependencies. Exploring interfaces, cloud API’s, capacity “shape” performance characteristics, and load profiling to find anomalies and outline future expected requirements are “standard fare”. Cross-team collaboration – This role will engage with and present to a wide variety of audiences, ranging from individual contributors and teams to executive leadership. A comfort with this and an executive presence is required, as this is a senior role and a trusted advisor to numerous SaaS organizations.Your Experience:
