Job Summary:

NRG is seeking a highly analytical Senior Analyst to join its Power Product Control team.  This role is ideal for a technically skilled and detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.  The Senior Analyst will support daily risk reporting, valuation, and analytics for NRG’s power portfolio, including renewable energy assets.  The role requires strong analytical capabilities, data fluency, and the ability to collaborate across Risk, Front Office, Finance, and IT to ensure accurate reporting and risk transparency.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Analyze, value, and provide risk insights on complex transactions and portfolio positions, including power generation, load contracts, derivatives, and hedging strategies

Develop and monitor position and P&L reports for NRG’s energy and renewables portfolios

Assist in the valuation and reporting of renewable energy assets, including wind, solar, and renewable energy credits (RECs)

Synthesize report details to drive insights into the evaluation of risk management strategies

Collaborate effectively within the Risk team and with other departments on issues/projects while independently driving initiatives and managing tasks from inception through to full resolution

Validate and mark end-of-day curves in the risk system, ensuring consistency with market data and internal models

Design and implement enhancements to risk management tools, processes, and reports

Collaborate with IT on system enhancements and testing

Respond to internal and external audit requests with clarity and completeness

Support compliance with renewable energy standards such as Green-e and REC retirement tracking

Stay informed on energy and renewable market trends and regulatory developments to inform risk analysis

 

Working Conditions:

Hybrid work schedule: 3 days on site, 2 days remote

Open office environment

Some overtime required for special projects

Minimal travel required (less than 10%)

 

Physical Requirements:

Majority of work is performed on a personal computer in a seated position

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent risk and renewables market experience

Minimum 3 years of experience in a related analytical or risk role

 

Preferred Skills and Experience:

Strong analytical and critical thinking skills

Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Experience with MTM valuation, risk metrics, and energy trading

Project management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage tight deadlines

Proficiency in Excel and SQL; Python or other coding languages is a plus

Familiarity with renewable energy markets and regulatory frameworks is a plus

Experience with ETRM systems and risk platforms is a plus
