Senior Research Scientist, Anesthesiology **Galveston, Texas, United States** **Hot** Research Academic & Clinical UTMB Health Requisition # 2503459 **MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:** + PhD degree and3 - 5 years of related experience **JOB DESCRIPTION** To support the research initiatives of the University. **ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:** + The Functional Lung Imaging Laboratory in the Department of Anesthesiology at UTMB is seeking a highly motivated Senior Research Scientist to contribute to research focused on understanding the early determinants of acute lung dysfunction and injury, particularly those associated with mechanical ventilation and systemic inflammation. + Our laboratory utilizes advanced Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and Computed Tomography (CT) techniques. + We are looking for a candidate interested in pursuing an independent academic career in lung functional imaging, involving both animal and human studies, and the acquisition of physiological measurements during experiments. **PREFERRED QUAIFICATIONS:** + Background in engineering, physics, or other quantitative sciences + Advanced knowledge in signal processing, image processing and analysis, including the use of AI techniques, numerical analysis, image registration, mathematical modeling, and tracer kinetics + Creative and systematic approach to complex problem-solving + Ability to work both independently and within a team + Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills + Programming experience in MATLAB, Python, and LabView + Experience in animal or human research, including clinical studies + Knowledge of respiratory pathophysiology **SALARY:** commensurate with experience. **Equal Employment Opportunity** UTMB Health strives to provide equal opportunity employment without regard to race, color, religion, age, national origin, sex, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, genetic information, disability, veteran status, or any other basis protected by institutional policy or by federal, state or local laws unless such distinction is required by law.
