Senior Research Engineer

You will offer technical and research support to the Diversified Food & Health division, focusing on thermal processing to aid sales, facilitate new installations, maintain existing JBT Marel machinery, and create revenue through thermal process consulting services. You will report to the Senior Manager of Innovation. Provide Process Authority validation and support services for aseptic processing and filing technologies globally. Conduct microbiological validations, compliance audits, and improve processes for several sterilization technologies. Grow crops of heat-resistant bacterial spores for biological validation studies. Perform compliance audits, facility audits, process design and optimization, product/process assessments. Teach courses on aseptic processing and better process control at JBT Marel and customer locations. Assist sales and marketing teams with thermal processing information for equipment sizing and project proposals; support new product development projects. Stay updated on scientific advancements, present technical papers, and provide technical support for leased software like AseptiCAL. Support New Product Development projects as the Subject Matter Expert for Aseptic processing and filling technologies. Provide technical support to customers that use JBT Marel's leased software such as AseptiCAL. Travel Approximately seventy percent (50-70%) of all work is performed inside an office environment/laboratory while thirty percent (30-50%) of work will be performed at customer facilities. Requirments BS/MS/PhD degree in Microbiology, Food Science, Food Engineering, or related technical field. 10+ years' experience in the thermal processing food laboratory environment required. Working knowledge of US FDA and USDA regulations for thermal processing of foods in hermetically sealed containers required. Experience with AseptiCAL, CALSoft, DataTrace and Ellab desired. Excellent verbal and written communications skills. COMPENSATION RANGE: $108,000.00 to $135,000 annual pay. Compensation is determined on experience and skill. Why work at JBT ...
