The Position

A healthier future. It’s what drives us to innovate. To continuously advance science and ensure everyone has access to the healthcare they need today and for generations to come. Creating a world where we all have more time with the people we love. That’s what makes us Roche.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced in-vivo Research Associate to join our in-vivo pharmacology team, which is part of the Immunology group. The successful candidate will be a key contributor to our preclinical research programs, focusing on chronic inflammatory diseases with a focus on respiratory disease models. This role involves the design, planning, execution, and analysis of in-vivo experiments to test novel therapeutic molecules. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in various respiratory in-vivo models and a strong background in ex-vivo conventional and state-of-the-art analytical techniques. The ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team and a matrix environment is key to succeed in this role.

These responsibilities capture a portion of what your work will be:

Experimental Design and Execution: Independently design, plan, and execute in-vivo studies to evaluate the efficacy and mechanism of action of therapeutic candidates in preclinical models of respiratory and inflammatory diseases.

Model Development: Establish and characterize novel in-vivo models of respiratory diseases, according to project needs.

In Vivo Techniques: Perform various in-vivo procedures, including but not limited to, animal handling, dosing, and sample collection.

Ex Vivo Analysis: Independently perform and analyze ex-vivo assays to assess disease-related endpoints.

Data Analysis and Communication: Analyze and interpret experimental data, and present findings clearly and concisely to research project leaders, scientists, and other team members.

Collaboration: Work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team of research associates and scientists to advance our research pipelines.

Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed electronic laboratory notebooks and databases.

Compliance: Ensure all animal studies are conducted in compliance with institutional and national animal welfare regulations.

Who You Are:

You’re someone who wants to influence your own development. You are looking for a company where you receive the opportunity to pursue your interests across functions and geographies. Working in a multicultural environment motivates you. As a fast learner you actively drive the quality of the requirements.

You posses an apprenticeship, BSc, or MSc in Life Sciences with 5+ years of in-vivo respiratory research experience, and formal qualifications for adhering to protocols, regulations, and animal welfare.

Proficient in rodent handling, various dosing routes, and tissue collection; experience with rodent surgery is advantageous.

Skilled in establishing animal models of inflammatory lung diseases and conducting in vivo pharmacology studies; experience with rodent models of other inflammatory or immune conditions is a plus.

Experienced in tissue preparation and ex vivo analysis, including flow cytometry for immunophenotyping and in situ technologies, such as IHC, IF, and ISH staining, with additional expertise in image or tissue omics analysis being beneficial.

Proficient in biofluid analyses, including biomarker quantification via conventional assays; expertise in proteomics and metabolomics technologies is a plus.

A collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills, fluency in English, and a working knowledge of German as an additional asset.

Demonstrates excellent data management and record-keeping skills.

Are you ready to apply? We want someone who thinks beyond the job offered - someone who knows that this position can be a rare springboard to many other opportunities at Roche.

We are looking forward to your application!
