General Summary:
Evaluates, from a reliability standpoint, the materials, properties and techniques used in production. Recommends design or test methods and statistical process control procedures for achieving required levels of product reliability. Determines reliability requirements of components and systems to achieve company, customer and any governmental agency reliability objectives. Makes recommendations for changes in the selection and application of components and systems. May propose changes in design or formulation to improve system and/or process reliability.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Material Science, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Reliability Engineering (e.g., reliability analysis, stress testing) experience or related work experience.OR
Master's degree in Engineering, Material Science, Computer Science, or related field and 1+ year of Reliability Engineering (e.g., reliability analysis, stress testing) experience or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Engineering, Material Science, Computer Science, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
• 2+ years of Reliability Engineering (e.g., reliability analysis, stress testing) experience or related work experience.
• 2+ years of experience with statistical analysis using Excel or other tools.
• 1+ year of work experience in a large matrixed organization.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• Develops qualification plan utilizing an established template/reliability risk assessment under the supervision of more senior engineers.
• Collects data to monitor reliability of products that have been released.
• Runs basic device reliability simulations to measure how changes in product design may affect reliability.
• Develops and executes reliability evaluation and qualification HW and SW, and manages execution of own tasks to schedule with supervision of more senior engineers.
• Manages own schedule and completes work on time; notifies appropriate team member when work is complete.
• Collects information from reliability analyses to inform decisions regarding the level of risk associated with releasing products that fail the stress test.
• Administers routine stress tests to examine the reliability of Qualcomm products.
• Reviews product qualifications and interprets common details required to conduct reliability testing.
• Conducts common statistical analyses on testing data to determine failure rate.
• Writes, reviews, and edits results documentation, and provides conclusions on whether devices meet qualifications. Presents documented results with the supervision of more senior engineer.
Level of Responsibility:
• Working under some supervision.
• Making decisions that are moderate in impact; errors may have relatively minor financial impact or effect on projects, operations, or customer relationships; errors may require involvement beyond immediate work group to correct.
• Using verbal and written communication skills to convey information that may be somewhat complex to others who may have limited knowledge of the subject in question. May require basic negotiation and influence, cooperation, tact, and diplomacy, etc.
• Having a moderate amount of influence over key organizational decisions (e.g., is consulted by senior leadership to provide input on key decisions).
• Completing tasks with multiple steps that can be performed in various orders; some planning and prioritization must occur to complete the tasks effectively; mistakes may result in some rework.
• Exercising creativity to draft original documents, imagery, or work products within established guidelines.
• Using deductive and inductive problem solving; multiple approaches may be taken/necessary to solve the problem; often information is missing or incomplete; intermediate data analysis/interpretation skills may be required.
• May be solicited during strategic planning period.

Pay range and Other Compensation & Benefits:
$104,000.00 - $156,000.00The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm.
