About the role
The Senior Reinsurance Officer is responsible for managing technical claims and operations for the Ceded Re Team, reporting to the Global Head of Ceded Re for AIG.
Key Responsibilities, include but are not limited to the following:
Working with Ceded Re Placement team to review exposure and claims information for reinsurance submissions and assist with reinsurance structuring as needed.
Work with reinsurance brokers, internal finance, legal and claims teams to ensure proper application of reinsurance for claims notification purposes
Engage and interact with business units to source data, accurately assess the underlying exposure and experience, and discuss potential solutions
Manage teams within Ceded Re that are responsible for Claims and Contract Setup
Work with Global Head of Ceded Re, Finance and Executive leadership on allocation of reinsurance treaty spend
Manage select compliance requirements for the Ceded Re Team to ensure proper disclosures to external regulators and rating agencies
Strengthen external relationships by engaging brokers and reinsurance markets in discussions relating to renewal information questions, technical matters and pricing selections
Assisting with all other aspects of the outwards reinsurance process including wording, marketing and placement
Lead ad hoc project work as necessary
Required Skills/Experience:
10+ years of reinsurance experience in in the claims or actuarial areas
Must have extensive knowledge of global insurance and reinsurance markets
Must have experience managing a team
Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation and team leadership skills
The ability to deal effectively and courteously with clients and colleagues, and to exercise discretion and confidentiality in all matters
Participate in broker and client meetings, presentations and audits
Ability to manage multiple projects, proven organizational and timekeeping skills and a strong sense of attention to detail are essential
Must be able to work outside of normal office hours including evenings, weekends, holidays, and travel for business as necessary
Advanced user of Microsoft Office Suite of applications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required, FCAS designation or equivalent preferred
For positions based in New Jersey, the base salary range is $160,000 to $220,000. For positions based in NYC the base salary range is $170,000 to $230,000. In addition, the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
