Senior Radiation Technician

CEIS is seeking an experienced Radiation Protection Technician 4 (RCT 4) to join our team supporting high-consequence DOE operations. This senior-level role serves as the primary point of contact for radiation protection planning and implementation in dynamic, high-hazard environments. The ideal candidate will bring advanced technical knowledge, strong field leadership, and the ability to resolve complex challenges while ensuring compliance with 10 CFR 835 and DOE safety directives.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as subject matter expert in the development and execution of Radiological Work Control Packages (RWCPs).

Lead field implementation of radiological controls for high-risk and high-traffic work areas.

Anticipate, identify, and resolve work conflicts and resource needs in real time.

Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior RCTs and field staff.

Support and enforce operational excellence and compliance across RP-1 priorities.

Participate in shift rotation schedules and respond to off-hours operations as required.

Conduct radiological surveys, instrumentation oversight, and exposure mitigation strategies.

Elevate unresolved issues and provide solutions in support of safety and mission execution.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma and 4–6 years of relevant radiation protection experience.

Demonstrated expertise in supporting nuclear operations and high-hazard radiological facilities.

Strong understanding of 10 CFR 835, DOE orders, and facility-specific RP protocols.

Experience preparing technical documentation and conducting in-field tactical decision-making.

Must be able to lift/carry RP instruments and wear PPE, including respiratory protection.

U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate’s Degree, technical school graduation, or formal radiological training.

Prior experience in DOE nuclear facilities.

Qualification under DOE O 426.2.

Previous participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP).

Demonstrated leadership in operational health physics, radiological planning, or RWCP development.
