We’re looking for a Senior Quality Test Developer to join our Hospitality team. You will play a key role in evolving and maintaining our in-house Python-based end-to-end (E2E) testing framework. You will act as both a hands-on contributor and a technical mentor, helping shape the future of our test automation strategy. This is an opportunity to drive quality and reliability at scale, improve developer productivity, and ensure our automated tests are both robust and scalable.
You will have a chance to make an impact in a growing part of the business from day one, and work with some of the most innovative people in the company.
What you’ll be responsible for:
o Maintain and enhance our custom-built, Python-based E2E testing framework, ensuring it evolves to meet the growing needs of the engineering organization
o Support and mentor other Quality Test Developers, sharing knowledge and promoting best practices in automation, code quality, and testing strategies
o Lead technical discussions, propose improvements, and drive architectural decisions related to test automation
o Work closely with the Developer Experience (DX) squad to align on tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and integrations that enhance test reliability and performance
o Partner with SREs to ensure testability, reliability, and performance across environments
o Collaborate with Quality Specialists, Product Managers and Developers
o Investigate and resolve flaky tests, contributing to stable and trustworthy test runs that reduce noise and improve team confidence
o Develop and execute strategies for maintaining and refactoring existing test cases, increasing their reliability, readability, and long-term maintainability
o Act as an advocate for maintaining the highest product quality
What you’ll be bringing to the team:
o Proven record in hands-on test automation, with strong experience designing and implementing reliable, scalable automated tests
o Solid understanding of asynchronous testing patterns and distributed system behaviours
o Deep knowledge of CI/CD platforms and integrating automated tests into fast, reliable build pipelines, as well as optimizing these pipelines
o Track record of reducing test flakiness in complex systems
o Known for mentoring peers in test strategy, code quality, and debugging techniques
o Strong believer that test automation is an engineering discipline — writing maintainable, versioned test code alongside product code
o Initiative-driven, staying current on testing trends, and constantly seeking better ways to build confidence in releases
What you need to bring:
o Very strong experience with test automation and E2E testing in Python (at least 5+ years)
o Strong experience with Playwright / Selenium and Appium
o Strong experience with CI tools
o Experience in automation test design, planning, execution, analysis, automation script maintenance, and issue escalation
Even better if you have, but not necessary
o Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent knowledge
o Experience in mobile automation testing (ideally in iOS/Apple environments)
o Experience with cloud-based technologies and tools (AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes)
o Working knowledge of hospitality terminology and concepts
What’s in it for you
o Lots of autonomy, flexible work culture with the option of working remotely or from one of our beautiful offices
o Genuine career growth opportunities within a company that's continuously expanding.
o Make a meaningful impact by helping merchants grow their businesses through creating or improving products and addressing customer feedback.
o Be part of a team large enough for growth yet agile enough for real impact.
o Work on high-traffic products with a global user base.
o Opportunity to work alongside other highly skilled engineers, learn and expand your skill set, forge wonderful relationships and make your mark within the diverse and inclusive Lightspeed culture, a true Canadian tech success story.
… and enjoy a range of benefits that’ll keep you happy, healthy and (not) hungry:
