We are currently recruiting for a motivated and passionate Senior Quality Technician to support the manufacturing of Zero Turn Mowers, Snow Blowers, and other Outdoor Power Equipment (OPE) by performing the following tasks:

Senior Level Specific Responsibilities

Train fellow Quality Technicians in Floor Support and Inspection

Create and maintain standard work and training documents for Quality tasks

Effectively communicate and reinforce company commitment to quality improvement efforts

Support and continuously improve a behavioral-based safety culture

Influence teams to understand the importance of and to be effective at 6S

Help the teams to understand quality standards, performance targets and goals in ways that align with the company’s plans and vision.

Coach and provide feedback to achieve excellence and recognize success. Facilitate 2-way conversations that develop team members to their fullest potential.

Influence without authority to ensure Ariens Quality standards are followed and embraced.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Perform several daily Process Audits to ensure all processes are being followed per Ariens standards

Complete Product Audits to ensure all products are being manufactured per design intent

Carry Out problem solving efforts, using 8D’s and A3’s daily

Eliminate waste in all processes using Lean Manufacturing Tools and Techniques

Execute “Floor Support” by supporting Manufacturing and removing the hurdles that negatively affect production

Inspect components, using an array of equipment, to print and/or CAD specifications

Learn Ariens standards and OPE industry standards and apply them in this role

Teach other Ariens employees Quality processes and methods

Identify and process non-conforming material 

Drive action based on the regular review of data and metrics

Reduce risk using Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA) tools

Raise awareness by posting Quality Alerts

Communicate process capability using Statistical Process Control (SPC)

Ensure Ariens suppliers are compliant by verifying PPAP submissions and/or auditing their parts within incoming inspection

 

Senior Level Required Qualifications

Capable of training Quality Technicians in Floor Support and Inspection

Completion of rotations in Plant 1 and Plant 3, for Inspection and Floor Support

Completion of Ariens Advanced Quality Technician Program’s 18 credit Quality Manufacturing Certificate *

Enrollment in Ariens Advanced Quality Technician Program until at least completing the Quality Technical Diploma OR Associates/Bachelor’s Degree in Quality Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering

Completion of Lean Practitioner

Completion of (10) verified 8Ds

Must understand types of measurement, measurement terminology, and the different types of measurement scales

Must have a strong knowledge of basic mathematical operations and perform measurement conversions; be able to solve for x; add and subtract degrees, minutes, and seconds

Must be able to select the appropriate measuring tools and techniques for a given characteristics

Must know how to measure using surface plate layouts

Must have basic calibration knowledge

Must be able to identify/recognize inspection errors and initiate resolution

Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and know definitions of critical, major, and minor characteristics

Must have knowledge of testing methods

Must be able to identify and report nonconforming material

Must understand traceability (product, material, and calibration)

Must know basic quality terms, definitions, and concepts

Must know the basic problem-solving steps: understand the problem, determine the root cause, develop/implement solutions, and verify effectiveness

Preferred Qualifications

Quality Technician or Manufacturing Engineering Technician Certificate or Diploma from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certificate
