Job Summary
Reporting to the Director of Off Road Vehicle Quality, this role is responsible for executing the Polaris Quality Policy, Plant Quality Plan and Quality Operating System in support of the Polaris Production System. The Senior Quality Manager closely partners with Safety, Engineering, Operations, Materials and Supply Chain throughout the Polaris Product Development Process to meet customer expectations. The Senior Quality Manager should exhibit a leadership style which promotes a culture of urgency, accountability, transparency, teamwork and data driven decision-making.
Responsibilities
Responsible for delivering product quality as a competitive point of differentiation that reinforces the Polaris brand(s) market position and enables future business growth.Set the direction for the plant by fostering a culture of non-negotiable safety and quality.Own the budget, organizational strategy and employee development for the Quality team.Train and enable personnel in structured problem-solving methods and tools, issue reporting and escalation. Enforce the use of root cause standard work.Enable a Gemba culture that understands opportunities and works to solve them quickly.Lead the standardization of the quality processes and procedures related to Operations, utilizing existing Polaris and industry standards (I DECIDE, EPIC, CAPA, APQP, etc.).Define, deploy, maintain and audit the local quality management system and quality programs per internal and external expectations.Own clean build and rolled first pass yield metrics. Drive accountability to responsible parties and deploy quality team resources to solve problems.Embed lessons learned back into DFMEA, PFMEA, and control plans. Ensure error proofing is executed effectively to close corrective action reports.Ensure corrective and preventative actions are completed thoroughly and on time. Assess solution effectiveness and report resolution to the leadership teams.Interact cross-functionally with product development teams to ensure safety and quality considerations are being appropriately addressed in the design & manufacturing of products.Develop and recommend inspection and sampling techniques. Develop process control procedures ensuring production of finished products meeting quality specifications and standards.Develop and execute the quality automation roadmap to remove manual inspections and increase inspection fidelity.Serve as the point person for major plant rework campaigns; coordinate efforts cross functionally to address on time and on budget.Develop quality deliverables, scorecard and audit specifics for the plant. Ensure requirements are met for safety and compliance.Collaborate with both local and sister location Plant Directors and Quality leaders to drive standardization across sites.Own and deliver monthly and quarterly Quality Management Review (QMR) to senior leadership.Experience & Skills
10+ years of experience in Manufacturing, Quality and/or Engineering. ASQ, Lean & Six Sigma certifications a plus.Strong leadership ability to foster, implement and align Quality and Lean principles/tools.Ability to build and promote talent within, prioritizing employee capability growth.Excellent interpersonal skills, especially communications (oral and written); demonstrated ability to influence the behavior of peers and others outside the direct organization.Creative and innovative self-starter; demonstrated ability to initiate, lead and sustain change.Ability to lead cross functionally to drive efficient root cause and corrective action resolution.Data-driven decision-making and project management skills required.Advanced knowledge of quality tools and methodologies, including SPC, GD&T, DFMEA, PFMEA, DOE, ISO standards, and metrology.Excellent Microsoft Office, Minitab and root cause problem solving skills required.Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Operations or related field required; advanced degree preferred.Competencies
