Your Role:
This position will be principally responsible for the underwriting, administration, and operation of an existing Property Portfolio with primary focus/responsibility on the management of many of the larger/complex Fire Risks.
In addition to the existing portfolio, the successful applicant will be required to focus on development of the portfolio by generation of profitable new business.
Your Responsibilities:
Responsible for the profitable development of the Property lines of business within New Zealand and portfolio management in conjunction with the New Zealand Property Manager whilst ensuring achievement of profitable growth objectives.Underwrite and negotiate renewals and new business in line with Company Guidelines.Establish sound business relationships with the Company's Producers.Assist the Growth and Development of the Company by proactively enhancing the Profile of the company through existing and new distribution channels.Establish close liaison and working relationships with other Product Line employees to maximize leveraged benefits to Chubb. Manage all aspects of underwriting process including, quotation, programme referrals, binding receipt of closings and policy issuance. Recommends changes to standards or procedures where deficiencies have been found. Assist with premium collections and monthly reporting as required.To be able to assist in the review and negotiation of all manuscript agreed broker wordings to ensure they comply with current market conditions and Chubb underwriting disciplines.Performs special projects and other related duties as assigned.Establish close liaison and working relationships with the risk management team and refer to them when and where necessary.Assists the New Zealand Property Manager in developing plans and objectives to grow the business profitably.Work with P&C actuaries to monitor the portfolio performance through loss trending. Be involved in audits (internal and external) and peers reviews to ensure underwriting integrity is maintained.Work with legal and compliance to ensure all materials are compliant according to the regulations.Manage and Monitor New Zealand Earthquake PML’s in line with set limits.Maintain a high level understanding of pricing individual risk exposuresAssist others in the development of pricing strategies, renewal negotiation strategy and developing game plans on new business submissions.Identify, analyse and develop sources of desirable new business opportunities including cross-departmental opportunities.Provide expertise on accessing opportunities for growth in a speciality, Customer Group or line of business.The Employee acknowledges that this position may develop to include other tasks, which are commensurate with the Employee’s abilities, in addition to those recorded in this position description.
Skills & Experience:
Demonstrated effective communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills to be capable of dealing with all levels of Chubb personnel as well as in dealing with agents, brokers and clients.Full understanding of the Insurance Industry and how Client/Broker/Insurer relationships operate.Proven analytical skills necessary to judge the desirability of complex or unusual risks within assigned specialised line.Proven record in insurance sales.Must have organisational skills through past Account management experience.The ability to be able to respond appropriately to all levels of Clients/Brokers and Chubb personnel.Accuracy and attention to detail.Demonstrated skill in PC software, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Microsoft Outlook and new software as it applies to the position.Previous Insurance experience essential – minimum 5 – 10 years. Preferably Property and Commercial lines experience.Relevant on-the-job experience.Working towards or obtained ANZIIF qualifications.Tertiary qualification (Business or Statistics) desirable, but not essential.
