Senior Property Accountant
Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Property Accountant to join our team in Charlotte, North Carolina. In this role, you will oversee property-level financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness. You will work closely with property managers, asset management teams, and external partners to deliver high-quality financial insights and support strategic decision-making. Responsibilities: • Manage and review the monthly close process conducted by outsourced property accountants to ensure accuracy and completeness. • Analyze property-level financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and general ledger activities, identifying trends and providing actionable recommendations. • Collaborate with property managers to align operational activities with financial records and ensure smooth month-end close processes. • Prepare and review owner reporting packages on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, adhering to investor requirements and deadlines. • Handle accounting tasks related to property-level transactions, including income, expenses, distributions, and asset acquisitions or disposals. • Deliver financial training to property managers in partnership with Learning and Development to enhance reporting accuracy. • Work with asset management and investor relations teams to provide timely and reliable financial data. • Support external audits and tax engagements by preparing schedules, addressing inquiries, and coordinating document submissions. • Assist with special accounting projects as needed to support team objectives. Requirements • Minimum of 2 years of experience in property accounting or related fields. • Proficiency in accounting software systems such as AMSI, AppFolio, and ADP Financial Services. • Strong knowledge of accrual accounting and general accounting functions. • Experience with accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes. • Ability to analyze and interpret financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements. • Excellent skills in account coding and financial analysis. • Familiarity with auditing processes and external reporting requirements. • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with diverse teams.
