The role of a Senior Project Manager is to work independently on small and large Transportation projects under the guidance of a Principal. The Senior Project Manager should be able to manage large projects, guide and mentor staff and interact with the client. A Senior Project Manager will provide immediate supervision and guidance to a group of employees, assigning tasks, checking work at frequent intervals for accuracy and completeness; and maintaining schedules. A Senior Project Manager will perform a variety of tasks which may include designing and planning structures and facilities such as bridges and roadways. They will analyze proposed projects to ensure structural reliability, resource efficiency and cost-effectiveness and may construct models to identify project specifications and meet related needs. Your Key Responsibilities
- Manage more complex transportation engineering projects including roadways, structures, traffic control, drainage, grading, etc. with minimal supervision.
- Will be responsible for the review and sealing of own projects or the work of the others.
- Assists with the management of the design and construction consultation of projects and provides input.
- Attends and assists in client/contractor/stakeholder meetings to gain a better understanding of client’s goals.
- Involved in the permitting process of projects, which may require meeting with clients, contractors, reviewing agency personnel.
- Coordinates with the regulatory review agencies to seek final approval.
- Trains less experienced team members in day-to-day activities including routine technical design, processing, and company procedures.
- Prepares or assists in the preparation of technical and price proposals as well as Statements of Interest and other business development activities.
- Manage and assist in the management of tasks including budget and schedule.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.
- Takes initiative on tasks and in coordinating with other members of the design team.
- Ability to effectively discuss project issues with clients and reviewing agencies.
- Possesses excellent time-management skills, thorough understanding of task assignment and schedule, budgeting and efficient use of time and resources.
- Working knowledge of PennDOT and Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission design criteria, design manuals, and standards.
- Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite.
- Familiar with Microstation as well as relevant software programs which may include In Roads/Open Roads, Auto Turn, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, StormCAD, PondPack, Syncro, SIDRA, and Rodel.
- Familiarity with PennDOT ECMS, URMS, PCIT, and EPS interfaces.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Registered Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania required.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in highway design and plan preparation for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and or the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission.
Position will primarily work in an office setting; may require some field work.
