Position Summary
This is a hybrid position in Ottawa, Ontario Canada
Thales is looking for a Senior Project Manager (PM) to carry out an integral role, responsible and accountable for the delivery of the assigned project, its business rhythm and all associated governance aspects in order to ensure successful project execution. The role will demand an individual with highly developed communication and influencing skills and an equal depth of domain experience that can ensure Thales delivers the project to the schedule, cost and quality requirements and to the satisfaction of the customer. The ability to lead and motivate an integrated project team will be key to the success of the Senior PM and the execution of the project.
The Senior PM will produce detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans, and regular status reports for the customer and Thales internal management for complex projects, which may include Firm Fixed Price and/or Service based contracts. The Senior PM will engage with various stakeholders within the Thales matrix organization and within the customer community on the project. The Senior PM will be accountable for driving Execution Excellence on their project and supporting Project Management Office (PMO) initiatives within Thales Canada Defence & Security.
Key Areas of Responsibility
The Senior Project Manager will be required to:
Plan, organize, lead and control the area and staff assigned to achieve outcomes within the delegated authorities and responsibilities for the Project assigned.Establish and control the project business rhythm and governance for the overall Project.Ensure that Thales project management methodology and a suitable program management framework are used throughout the entire project lifecycle to meet financial objectives and customer commitments.Develop a robust, optimized project schedule.Manage and track the cost, schedule and technical performance of all aspects of the Project assigned against the approved baseline.Be accountable for monitoring/control of Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), schedule, risk register, scope change control, on time delivery and EAC within the project.Oversee achievement of project performance objectives and indicators.Identify support and resources needed to achieve the project objectives with input of the Resource Managers and key stakeholders.Manage all customer / stakeholder relationships to ensure other responsibilities/accountabilities are achieved. Lead and motivate a high performing cross-disciplinary integrated team by providing the appropriate direction, coaching, support and delegation to team members.Ensure a robust risk and opportunity management process is embedded in the project, supporting the work package leaders as required.Promote Execution Excellence by identifying areas of improvement and supporting PMO initiatives.Prepare Project and Estimate to Complete (ETC) Reviews.Ensure a “Lessons Learned” culture is embedded within the Project.Other duties as requiredMinimum Requirements
Bachelors Degree in a relevant field such as Engineering, Business or Relevant proven experience.Certified Practicing Project Manager or equivalent (IPMA and/or PMP certification).Possess demonstrated experience as an engineering professional or project manager in the engineering sector for at least 12 years.Minimum 5-10 years of experience managing complex projects in a matrix organization.Experience and understanding of the Program Management process (including Change Control, Risk Management and Information Management).Experience with processes and techniques used to plan and schedule Program activities (WBS, OBS, milestones, dependencies, EVM).Experience leading transformational activities in a PMO.Strong commercial / contractual acumen.Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and analytical abilities.A proven ability to lead and influence stakeholders at all levels within the organization.A positive and energized attitude.Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge and understanding of the Defence and Aerospace Sector.Experience across the Design, Delivery and In-Service Support phases of a project lifecycle.Experience working in a complex, multidisciplinary, multi-site organization;Evidence of the ability to provide coaching and development for less-experienced team members.Knowledge of risk and scheduling tools.Regulatory Compliance Requirements

The reference Total Target Compensation(TTC) market range for this position, inclusive of annual base salary and the variable compensation target, is between
Total Target Cash (TTC): 129,780.00 - 200,826.90 - 274,497.30 CAD AnnualThis reflects how companies in a similar industry and geographic region generally pay for similar jobs. This range helps the Company make pay decisions as one data point among many.
