Senior Project Coordinator (Nuclear Projects)
Johnson Service Group (JSG) is a nationally recognized professional staffing firm, and we are recruiting for a Senior Project Coordinator to support a pioneering nuclear energy organization advancing small modular reactor (SMR) technology.
This long-term contract position (through 2026) will support day-to-day coordination of large, complex nuclear projects. The role is based out of the Houston, TX office. Candidates in the Houston area who can attend the office weekly are preferred; remote candidates will be considered with a commitment to travel to Houston one week per month.
Contract Term: Through end of 2026 (40 hours/week)
Location: Houston, TX
Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship is required

Position Summary
The Senior Project Coordinator reports to the Director of SMR Product Development and supports one or more Project Managers in the planning, execution, and monitoring of nuclear energy projects. This role ensures project activities remain on track by coordinating cross-functional workstreams, maintaining logs, preparing reports, and facilitating communication across multiple disciplines.
The successful candidate will bring significant experience coordinating large-scale projects in the energy industry, with strong organizational, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Key Responsibilities
Facilitate preparation and implementation of work plans for defined project scopes.
Coordinate and track cross-functional assignments across engineering and operations teams.
Develop and maintain project logs including decisions, issues, and risks.
Monitor in-progress work and provide regular status updates (weekly/periodic reporting).
Manage project documentation and maintain up-to-date information on project portals.
Coordinate interfaces with parallel projects to avoid conflicts and ensure alignment.
Support Project Managers with planning, communication, and progress tracking.
Ensure adherence to nuclear quality and safety requirements, including 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and ASME NQA-1.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business-related discipline.
10+ years of experience supporting large, complex projects within the energy industry.
Strong background in project coordination within engineering, construction, or manufacturing environments.
Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM®) or equivalent professional certification preferred.
Excellent technical writing, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Proficiency with common project management tools and MS Office Suite.
Must be eligible to work under DOE 10 CFR Part 810.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience coordinating nuclear, DOE, or other regulated industry projects.
Familiarity with NSSS (Nuclear Steam Supply System), ASME standards, and I&C (Instrumentation & Controls) projects.
Experience supporting Earned Value Management (EVM) or integrated schedule/cost control practices.
