The Opportunity
Downer is seeking a commercially minded and detail-oriented Senior Project Accountant to support a portfolio of complex energy and resource projects across our Energy & Utilities business.
Reporting to the Finance Business Partner, this role is essential in providing financial insights, ensuring accurate project reporting, and partnering with operational teams to drive strong financial outcomes. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys combining technical accounting with hands-on business engagement in a dynamic and growing part of the organisation.
What You’ll Do
Partner with project managers to deliver reliable budgeting, forecasting, and cost tracking. Ensure accurate revenue recognition and margin reporting, aligned with Downer policies. Monitor and manage project billing, invoicing, and cash flow performance. Identify cost variances and provide actionable insights to improve project profitability. Support compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and audit requirements.What We Offer

Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting or Commerce; CA/CPA qualified. 5+ years of project accounting experience in a large or complex environment. Strong commercial understanding of cost-plus and SoR contracts. Excellent Excel skills and ERP experience (JDE preferred). Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.About Energy & Utilities
