Job DescriptionThis role is designated as a hybrid role which includes working at least 3 days per week in office (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays) to foster better collaboration, connection, and innovation. This role is responsible for a managing the portfolio of performance and compliance related products.
As a Senior Product Manager, Performance and Compliance, you will be empowered and expected to grow margin and profitability of your product lines within the Outdoors business focused on the B2B Primary Purchasers and influencers including Architect/Designer, General Contractors, and Builders enabling the BU to meet its overall financial objective. You will provide thought leadership and direction to ensure we have the right product certifications, with the necessary performance ratings, in the right channels, with the right pricing architecture. You will have a deep understanding of regional and national codes and compliance, and necessary performance required to increase market share and profitability throughout the product lifecycle. The ability to create and execute successful strategies, build narratives around those strategies, and influence multiple stakeholders internally and externally are necessary for success.

Champion the “Voice of the Customer” by developing a thorough understanding of our B2B Primary Purchasers and the performance and certification needs. Conduct competitive analysis and gain insight to certification gaps or advantages.In collaboration with the FBIN COE’s and functions, Create Product Performance and Certification Strategies that align to and enable the BU’s strategic plan. Articulate the strategy on what we should sell and innovate more or less of, and how we will position our performance products to different B2B channels on a regional and national level.Collaborate with internal teams and customers to gather requirements, prioritize certifications and performance needs, and translate them into technical specifications and properly scoped test plans.Analyze product performance data, user behavior, regional and national codes and compliance needs, and competitive portfolios to inform product decisions and identify areas for improvement.Develop and execute annual product plans in partnership with Outdoors Product Managers focused on certification and performance needs to meet growth, market share, and profitability goals. Manage trade-offs and balance conflicting demands to execute required initiatives. Plan and manage new product development projects through the entirety of a stage-gate process.Educate the Organization on the various code requirements and performance certifications and our product solutions to enable market growth. Partner with Revenue Growth Management, sales, analytics and finance teams to understand channel dynamics & competitive positioning. Develop business cases to initiative new product develop projects or new certification testing that enables profitable growth.Influence and educate the business on how we go to market. Provide thought leadership and direction within and outside the organization for business, technical or competitive issuesEffectively communicate and explain the rationale of product line strategies, positioning, channel needs, financial impact, priorities and customer requirements. Provide sales and product training support to drive revenue and profitability goals of our performance product lines. Attend industry-related trade shows, sales meetings, and maintain trade association contacts as needed. Maintain a deep understanding of pertinent industry standards, regional and national codes, and certifications required to best position our performance product lines.Collaborate with Brand, Channel Marketing, Digital, and Commercialization teams to support the development and maintenance of technical product documentation and provide internal and customer training on product usage. Develop self-service and simplified solutions enabling access to our portfolio of certifications and product ratings.Support Brand Marketing / Marketing Services with review of technical content and messages of all collateral materials and communications for performance product lines. Ensure the accuracy of product offering, descriptions, pricing, etc in all company communications.May perform other duties as assigned.QualificationsBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in, Marketing, Business, Engineering or related fieldMinimum of 5 years of product management or engineering experience in durable goods manufacturingStrong analytical skills, including ability to arrive at insights from analytical data, is essential for market and competitive evaluation, pricing and line managementPossess a strong technical background to understand the feasibility and technical needs of product development.Demonstrated ability to be a team player with skills to lead/participate in cross-functional teamsDemonstrated effective verbal, written and presentation skillsAdvanced computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SAP)Ability to travel approximately 25%, mainly to customer locationsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
MBA in Marketing, Engineering, Business or related fieldExperience with Residential Building Codes and CertificationsFenestration (Window and Door) Industry ExperiencePrior consumer/durable goods experienceAdditional InformationFortune Brands believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is Hiring Pay Range: $130,000 - $150,000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based sales incentive plan.
