The Opportunity:
The Sr. Specialist, Procurement in Evadale, TX will ensure timely and cost-effective procurement aligned with manufacturing schedules, quality standards, and strategic business goals. The ideal candidate offers proven experience in managing complex supply chains, building strong internal and external partnerships, and developing cost effective strategies. The successful candidate will report to the Purchasing Manager.
How you will impact Smurfit WestRock:
Develop and execute sourcing strategies for materials to support production plans and cost targetsCollaborate with production, planning, maintenance and engineering teams to forecast material needs and ensure supply continuityIdentify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers capable of meeting quality, delivery, and cost requirementsNegotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to optimize value and mitigate riskMonitor supplier performance and lead corrective actions when neededAnalyze market trends, pricing, and supply risks to inform procurement decisionsMaintain accurate procurement records, purchase orders, and supplier documentationDrive continuous improvement in procurement processes and supplier collaborationUtilize procurement analytics and KPIs to drive data-informed decision-makingLeverage ERP/MRP systems and e-sourcing platforms for procurement executionDemonstrated understanding of Procure-to-Pay (P2P) and Source-to-Contract (S2C) processes
What you need to succeed:
Bachelor’s degree preferred or 10 years related experience.Strong proficiency in MS Office, particularly ExcelStrong analytical skills with attention to detailAbility to solve problems, work independently, and multi-task in a fast-paced environmentAbility to work in team environmentUnderstand and communicate why, align goals, empower, recognize performanceAligned with our company’s values of Integrity, Respect, Accountability, and ExcellencePreferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with Lean or Six Sigma methodologies to support process improvement and operational efficiencyPrior experience working in a manufacturing environment with an understanding of production dynamics and material flowFinancial acumen including the ability to assess cost drivers and support cost analysis initiativesSupport or lead project implementations, particularly those involving cross-functional teamsWhat we offer:
