Senior Process Engineer - Injection Molding

 

The Senior Process Engineer - Injection Molding is responsible for maintaining and leading the injection molding process. The position leads engineering initiatives in the areas of manufacturing processes, process documentation, manufacturing engineering, systems, procedures, equipment, and tooling. 

This position manages complex engineering assignments and projects with multiple departmental interactions regarding all manufacturing processes. This position also provides manufacturing support to Process Engineers and Process Technicians, optimizes existing molding processes, develops new molding processes, and leads continuous improvement and cost savings initiatives.

Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership and mentorship to Process Engineers, Tool Room personnel, Mold Technicians, Production Leads, and Machine Operators. Troubleshoot mold issues, machine settings, verify auxiliary equipment settings, and monitor various other functions to insure part conformity and quality. Lead the implementation of new tooling, new processes, and new auxiliary equipment. Conduct operational and financial analysis to recommend new tooling and equipment to provide improved manufacturing processes through increased quality and reduced cost. Lead and mentor cross-functional teams of engineers and technicians to implement high impact cost saving projects to improve plant financial KPIs. Utilize problem‐solving skills to analyze manufacturing difficulties to determine root cause and define corrective actions in support of on‐going operational activities.</p><p> Lead engineering initiatives in the design, documentation, and implementation of manufacturing processes for operating facilities as required to improve process capability, reliability, consistency, and throughput. Manage the implementation of World‐Class Principles T.Q.M., Kanban, Demand Flow, and Cellular Manufacturing﴿ to improve customer satisfaction and reduce waste. Work safely to prevent on‐the‐job injuries by following Company and OSHA safety rules and regulations, understanding machine safeguards, recognizing, and reporting safety hazards, wearing required PPE. Perform other duties as required within the nature and level of work.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Plastics, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering required and five ﴾5﴿ years of hands‐on experience setting up and operating injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment, including robots is required. Experience may be considered in lieu of degree.  Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Strong and diverse technical background in injection molding processing, tooling, equipment, materials, manufacturing, and quality. Demonstrated knowledge of using statistical tools to troubleshoot issues and evaluate process performance ﴾OEs, Capability studies﴿. Physical Demand Requirements
  ​Occasionally required to stand, walk or sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds.
