**Job Description:**
Johnson & Johnson is recruiting for a Senior Process Engineer within the Manufacturing Science and Technology (MSAT) team located in Geel, Belgium.
The Chemical Production facility in Geel, Belgium is part of the Janssen Supply Chain organization within Johnson & Johnson and is the largest manufacturer of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and spray dried powders (SDP) within the network. Spray drying is the first step in the Drug Product manufacturing and therefore treated as a Drug Product intermediate (DPi). The APIs/SDPs are then sent for further processing through pharmaceutical production into tablets, ointments, syrups and other formulations, which are distributed to our patients around the globe.
The **Senior Process Engineer** will become member of the Manufacturing, Science and Technology (MSAT) team. This team is responsible for supporting New Product Introductions (NPI) and Life Cycle Management (LCM) portfolio, manage product transfers, support process validation and improvements and deploy standard/new technologies/digitalization projects. In this role, the focus will be supporting the spray drying portfolio (NPI/LCM) as well as building knowledge on data science projects/new technologies related to spray drying processes. Working in partnership with multifunctional groups and collaboration with the business across departments is a crucial aspect to this role. Solid understanding of spray dry manufacturing and knowledge of process technology is preferred. Experience with introduction of APIs/DPi’s/DP’s to manufacturing sites or global technology transfers or introducing new technologies is a plus.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ Leading/supporting your own projects within the spray dry portfolio or product tech transfers.
+ Support of daily activities in production for the assigned commercial spray drying processes (e.g., campaign preparation and follow-up, support in process-related non-conformance investigations, capacity optimizations, process validation, …)
+ Technical and manufacturing integration into the commercial manufacturing site Geel for the assigned NPI spray drying process: (Co-)leading the manufacturing site team, collaborate with global MSAT functions and R&D, support plant readiness and execution (e.g., tech transfer implementation, site based documentation, process validation, risk management, campaign prep and follow-up, support in process-related quality investigations, …)
+ Find opportunities to increase process efficiency, promote and implement innovative initiatives for process or data optimizations.
+ Gain expertise in current equipment capabilities and new process technologies linked with spray drying or new products, from a process viewpoint. Be contributor to drive technological vision.
+ Contribution, review and approval of technical documents (e.g., protocols, reports, filings, criticality analysis, control strategies, master plans, etc.)
+ Technical support on any regulatory audits and inspections.
+ Build knowledge as a process engineer and integrate this knowledge in the organization. Provides comprehensive process advice. Facilitates resolution of complicated operational problems.
+ Build a strong network with departments like operations, quality, technical engineering, global MSAT, R&D, planning, EH&S to be able to develop and complete these projects and deliver process requirements.
**Qualifications:**
+ Master’s Degree or PhD preferably in Chemical engineering or Process technology (bioengineering, industrial engineering or chemistry), or proven record in an industrial, operational environment.
+ Technical knowledge of some of the following is highly valued: spray dryer/dryer, process analytical technologies (PAT), data analytical tools
+ Awareness of manufacturing site systems and procedures (SAP, change control, qualification, process validation, etc.)
+ Owns good project management, organizing, planning and coordination skills (FPX or similar). Able to set up and maintain communication with stakeholders and wider network organization.
+ Motivated, able to work independently and take decisions autonomously, with demonstrated problem solving skills and result driven personality
+ Strong interpersonal skills, e.g. influencing and conflict handling.
+ Strong analytical skills, high level of accuracy.
+ Develops strong collaborations with internal and external business partners. Is an excellent teammate.
+ Working knowledge of English (both verbally and written) and Dutch (or willing to develop proficiency in Dutch)
