Job Summary:
Mercury Systems is seeking the best and brightest talent to help us bring cutting edge technology to mission critical aerospace and defense applications, advancing innovation where it matters most. The senior principal mmic design engineer will be responsible for designing and testing RF MMIC devices such as amplifiers, filters, switches, mixers, that operate from HF through Ka band. The ideal engineer has significant design experience with both GaAs and GaN processes and has successfully taken designs from prototype through production.
Job Responsibilities
Design RF monolithic microwave integrated circuit components on GaAs and GaN processes Uses RF simulation tools (such as AWR) to model, optimize, and layout MMIC components Uses CAD tools to design printed circuit boards and packaging for evals and modules Work with semiconductor foundry to submit design documentation, and ensure compliance with all design rules Conducts manual and automated performance tests at the component-level to characterize RF semiconductor components Develops understanding of operation, construction, and behavior of RF MMIC components Drive technical innovation by improving processes, promoting new product ideas, and solving technical challenges Guide and mentor junior engineers in RF design tasks Work with customers to synthesize requirements, lead proposal writing, and project planning activities Provide post-sale technical support of RF MMIC and integrated module productsRequired Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering Typically requires a minimum of 10 -12 years of related experience with component-level RF IC design Strong knowledge of RF circuit fundamentals and design techniques Ability to use test equipment including vector network analyzers, RF signal generators, spectrum analyzers in applications up to 50 GHz Ability to independently configure and run basic RF measurements such as noise figure, intermodulation distortion, group delay distortion, switching speed, etc. Experience with successful planning, estimating, and executing development projects as the technical lead This position requires you to have or obtain a government security clearance. Security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizensPreferred Qualifications
Master's degree in electrical engineering (years of experience may be less with a higher-level degree) Experience with aerospace and defense markets, with focus areas of EW and/or SIGINT applications Experience developing automated test software applications in LabView and/or Python Experience with GaN power amplifier design, characterization, and packaging Experience with RF receiver design, cascade analysis, with understanding of receiver figures of merit
