Senior Pricing Actuary, Casualty

CHUBB Europe P&C is one of four main divisions of CHUBB European Group (CEG). This is a highly visible actuarial pricing role responsible for a book of almost $1b gross written premium, leading the effort of partnering Casualty underwriters in Continental Europe, Middle East and North Africa (CEMENA) and providing technical expertise to the Head of CEMENA Casualty in executing key priorities and strategic projects.
 

The role is based in Paris, with some occasional travel to other parts of Chubb’s European network, particularly the largest European operations in Germany, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Switzerland, Sweden, Denmark and Belgium, and to the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

Be the Lead Actuarial Partner to CEMENA Casualty underwriters in assessing portfolio performance and formulating strategies to improve underwriting performance. Portfolio management and risk selection through the application of technical models. Responsible for the completion of CEMENA Casualty profitability studies/ performance reviews, planning, budgeting and forecasting.Case pricing – recommending or peer reviewing recommended premiums (and aggregate deductibles and collateral requirements) for large individual insureds through modelling their loss data, communicating and justifying recommendations to the major account underwritersLead the effort in monitoring and communicating key portfolio trend/ statistics/ insights to underwriters and senior management, including but not limited to quarterly business performance reviews, performance dashboard updates, renewal rate change and adequacy monitoring, inflation impact etc. Lead the parameterization of underwriting risk for CEMENA Casualty, for the purpose of Chubb Global Capital Model.Assist in the development and calibration of exposure and experience rating tools/ engines, in support of benchmark rating/ case pricing of risks/binders/facilities. Collaborate with key stakeholders (Chubb Overseas General / underwriters) to ensure tool kits are fit for purpose.Proactively engaged with the wider Actuarial community (e.g. Reserving, CAT teams) in knowledge sharing/ common actuarial projects.The role will involve direct management responsibility for 2 analysts and additional interns where appropriate, and indirect coaching/ workflow guidance responsibility for a shared pool of offshore analysts.

Required skills & Experience:

Highly motivated self-starter who is able to drive, prioritize, manage and execute multiple projects to completion in a fast-paced environment.Great team leader and player who is able to deal with different professional backgrounds and interested to invest time in team growth.Strong stakeholder management ability.Proven technical expertise in case pricing and portfolio management activities.Loss Modelling and Statistical Analysis skills.Commercial insurance and catastrophe risk knowledge.Strong communicator who can articulate complex messages to a broad range of audiences in a clear and concise manner, both verbally and written.Proficiency in English required. Other languages a plus (e.g. French, German, Italian, Spanish).Strong systems / software/ data management skills, and/or ability to learn new software on own initiative. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and at least one of the following software: R, Dataiku, SQL, Python, ResQ, Radar, VBA, Qlik. Professional actuarial qualification or in the process of being qualified.
