Senior Power Plant Thermal and Fluid Mechanics Engineer – Designer of Thermal Energy Absorption, Storage, and Transfer Unit in Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) Plant

Afra Innovation and Technology Co., in collaboration with the Iranian Research Organization for Science and Technology (IROST), is recruiting a Mechanical Engineer specialized in the preliminary design of heat exchangers, central receivers, and thermal energy storage systems to support the development of energy absorption and storage subsystems in Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) plants.

Note: during this phase of collaboration, the role and its associated responsibilities will be carried out under a short-term, part-time project agreement. As the project's design phase moves into implementation, the position may transition into a full-time role or continue as part-time, depending on the evolving project requirements and mutual agreement.

Responsibilities:

Collect technical documentation, conduct engineering analysis, and prepare comprehensive reports.Conduct comparative studies of global CSP power plants, focusing on design bottlenecks and optimization considerations for thermal energy absorption and storage units.Define design parameters and analyze the performance of thermal energy absorption and storage systems within CSP plants.Develop expertise in the design and optimization of related subsystems, including:Solar reflectors (heliostats), support structures, and drive mechanisms.Central receivers are equipped with various thermal absorbent materials (e.g., molten salts, ceramics).Thermal energy transfer and storage systems utilizing absorbent media.Heat exchanger systems are compatible with different absorbent materials.Fully prepare technical documentation and engineering knowledge packages required for basic and detailed design phases.Analyze thermal systems using specialized engineering software tools.

Required Qualifications:

Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering or Energy Engineering.Proficiency in thermodynamic analysis software: Thermoflow, MATLAB, ANSYS Fluent, MiniTab, and EES.Deep understanding of thermodynamics, thermal power plants, and renewable energy systems.Practical and comprehensive familiarity with power plant turbines and generators, heat exchangers, and instrumentation for high-temperature systems.Intermediate to advanced proficiency in English (knowledge of Chinese is considered an asset).Strong learning aptitude, problem-solving mindset, and adaptability in multi-disciplinary engineering projects with tight schedules.Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to resolve critical technical issues in operational environments.Interest in personal development within the field of renewable power plant analysis, with a focus on solar thermal energy.
