Senior Plant Controls Engineer, Nuclear
Job Title: Senior Plant Controls Engineer (I&C Non-Safety) Remote Work Model 12-month Contract Position Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Plant Controls Engineer to support a non-safety instrumentation and controls (I&C) group. In this role, you will be a vital member of an engineering team, focusing on Sodium Fast Reactor technologies. This position reports directly to the Non-Safety I&C Manager and involves collaboration with a diverse team of scientists and engineers, both internally and externally. Key Responsibilities: + Collaborate with geographically diverse design team members to develop comprehensive design documentation for I&C systems. + Lead the review and engineering of instrumentation and control scopes specifically tailored for sodium fast reactors and integrated energy storage technologies. + Oversee a team of Lead Designers, guiding the development from systems and sub-system functional requirements through to final design. + Contribute to the overall plant control strategy, focusing on the implementation of an integrated control system utilizing Curtiss Wright RTIME HSI components and RTP controllers. + Provide mentorship and guidance in the development of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (PI&Ds), control system architecture drawings, control logic, loop diagrams, and instrument installation drawings. + Conduct engineering evaluations in compliance with nuclear codes, standards, and licensing regulations, ensuring the highest quality in design. + Offer technical direction to design engineers adhering to applicable nuclear and non-nuclear design standards. + Manage supplier projects, ensuring all contractual deliverables align with organizational requirements while conducting technical reviews as needed. + Foster a culture of continuous learning and best practices within the nuclear industry to enhance design quality and effectiveness. + Engage with licensing activities associated with Safety Analysis Reports. Key Qualifications and Skills: + Bachelor’s degree or higher in Controls, Electrical, or a related discipline from an accredited university. + Minimum of 15 years of direct experience in instrumentation and control systems design, development, testing, commissioning, or diagnostics on commercial distributed control systems. + Proven track record in managing or leading industrial I&C platform design projects. + Familiarity with advanced process control strategies and overall plant control coordination. + Proficient in developing control narratives, logic diagrams, and working with IEEE and IEC standards. + Experience in creating industrial process flow diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs). + Desirable experience in RTIME PPC systems or RTP I/O and controllers, as well as nuclear reactor safety systems. + Strong problem-solving capabilities and the ability to juggle multiple projects and priorities effectively. + Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a keen attention to detail. + A self-starter who can coordinate and lead efforts with minimal supervision. + Must exemplify integrity, open communication, and a commitment to fostering teamwork.
