Responsible for providing technical leadership as compound and/or indication lead within a cross-functional multi-skilled team to to design, execute, analyse and interpret clinical studies. Ensures projects adhere to Good Clinical Practice and regulatory requirements.

Typical Accountabilities

Technical role:

Provides leadership or expertise to China development strategy and plan for all early portfolio projects across multiple therapeutic areas.Leads China study design or provides input to global study design reflecting Chinese needs.Leads and/or performs China protocol development, and preparations for governance committee review.Provides, as an expert, strategic physician expertise to quantify the benefits, risks, value and uncertainty of  clinical trials.Ensures efficient and effective leadership and management of project information, strategy, quality standards, and integrity of information interpretation.Networks with colleagues and experts, providing medical consultancy in own area of expertise and serving as a resource for others by sharing experience within and beyond project team.Represents AstraZeneca and its Physicians at external events.Keeps own knowledge of best practices and new relevant developments up to date.

People management role:

Leads, guides, evaluates and develops the team Physicians to ensure that the own area achieves its objectives and complies with all relevant regulations and laws.Provides coaching and mentoring to the team physicians in both technical and career development.

Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Essential

Master degree in medical discipline or aboveExperience as a physicianExperience of management and design of clinical trialsThorough knowledge of study analysis and design in all phases of drug developmentMinimum 5 years of experience as clinical research physician in pharma industry R&DTherapeutic area expertise and commercial understandingProven leadership promoting, motivating and empowering others to accomplish individual, team and organizational objectives
