QuEST Global require a senior PCB Layout Engineer to join their team at our customer site in Edinburgh. You are expected to have experience in using PCB design/layout tools, processes and standards.
Key Responsibilities
You will be required to provide innovative layout solutions for complex, multi-layer PCBs, Flexi circuits and Flexi-rigids.
Qualifications
You are expected to have an ONC/HNC or HND in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, supported by appropriate understanding of electronics and a specialisation in PCB design.
Work Experience
Skills & Knowledge
You will have experience of the following;
Creating complex multi-layer PCBs involving digital (including FPGAs), RF, power supply and mixed-signal circuitry in accordance with IPC-2221.Providing advice to electronic engineers relating to design rules for PCB tools, materials and substrate technology.Creating PCB layer stackups for optimised power distribution / signal routing.PCB technologies such as BGA, High Density Interconnect (HDI), Flip Chip and buried/micro vias.Implementing controlled impedance & matched length tracking and screening techniques such as area fill & guard traces to minimise signal crosstalk.Collaborating with Mechanical design colleagues on seamless ECAD-MCAD integration, i.e. import & export of PCB profile and PCB Assembly (PCBA) data.Validating manufacturing data to ensure compliance with supplier capability.Liaising with external suppliers; PCB Manufacturers and Contract Electronics Manufacturers (CEMs) / PCB Assembly houses.
Tools
You are expected to be familiar with current industry-standard ECAD tools used for PCB design and layout.
It is essential that you have expertise in Mentor Graphics (Siemens EDA) Xpedition / Xpedition Enterprise, and desirable that you have experience of Valor NPI & DFM. Experience of Windows and Linux environments is also desirable.
Intrinsic Factors
The nature of the tasks involved means that any candidates applying for the position must be capable of achieving UK Security Check (SC) clearance. Obtaining SC clearance requires candidates to have been resident in the UK for a minimum of 5 years.
