Job Description

AECOM are looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Pavement Engineer to join our Auckland Transport team. With a strong pipeline of new and ongoing projects, this role offers the opportunity to play a key part in delivering critical infrastructure across the region.

We’ve recently secured several high-profile projects through tenders and direct appointments, and the team are also supporting the delivery of major ongoing programs such as Te Wai Takamori o Te Awa Kairangi (Riverlink)  and the Eastern Busway Alliance (EBA)—all of which require dedicated pavement design and MSQA support.

How you’ll make a difference

Deliver pavement design support across a range of small to large-scale multi-disciplinary projects, including modelling, reporting, and producing technical drawings and specifications.Provide MSQA support and construction-phase services on active projects, conduct site investigations, manage quality assurance tasks, and ensure compliance with relevant standards and specifications.Independently lead small to medium pavement design packages, organise internal design reviews, attend project meetings, and contribute to sustainability and safety-in-design workshops.Support senior engineers on complex or large-scale packages, while mentoring junior staff and promoting collaboration across internal teams to deliver high-quality, consistent outcomes.Build and maintain strong client relationships, meeting tight deadlines and budgets, and ensuring deliverables align with project scope, stakeholder expectations, and quality requirements.

Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) with 5+ years of experience in pavement design, including delivery of design packages within New Zealand or Australia.Proficient in pavement modelling using CIRCLY 7 (required), with knowledge of AustPADS (preferred), and a solid understanding of Austroads and NZTA guidelines and specifications.Experience supporting pavement works during construction, including design change advice, MSQA, and CPS inspections, with a strong focus on quality assurance.Excellent time management and prioritisation skills, with the ability to deliver high-quality outcomes to tight deadlines across multiple projects.A collaborative, proactive, and emotionally intelligent team player, with a positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills; CPEng registered or actively working towards it (required).
