Lead and manage all technical aspects of the painting process, from surface preparation to finished coating for both plastic and metal components. Set up, trial, and fine-tune painting machines and robots to achieve optimum production conditions, minimizing defects and ensuring visual quality. Develop and implement standard work practices including SOPs, work instructions (WIs), inspection checklists, and production records. Supervise and mentor painting technicians and process trainers; define training content for knowledge transfer across shifts and teams. Deliver technical coaching to production operators, engineers, and quality personnel on paint process best practices. Lead root cause analysis and defect troubleshooting using tools such as 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagram, and FMEA. Participate in and lead improvement initiatives related to QCDS (Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety), including paint consumption reduction, cycle time optimization, and sustainability. Evaluate, validate, and support the implementation of new paint materials, equipment, or process technologies (e.g., low-VOC paint, electrostatic application). Support NPI (New Product Introduction) by validating paint feasibility and supporting pilot builds and industrialization activities. Analyze and report on machine performance, painting defect rates, and OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness). Establish preventive maintenance plans, spare parts inventory control, and machine health monitoring for painting lines and robots. Create technical documentation for machine check sheets, maintenance records, and performance logs. Act as the primary technical contact between Production, Quality, Maintenance, and R&D teams regarding painting-related topics. Coordinate with production supervisors to align daily work, resolve process issues, and ensure productivity targets are met. Collaborate in audits and ensure painting operations comply with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and company-specific standards. Ensure adherence to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and painting-specific hazard control Maintain up-to-date technical documentation aligned with internal audit requirements and regulatory compliance. Handle any other duties or assignments as delegated by management.
Must have
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related engineering fields. Minimum 5–8 years of hands-on experience in painting process engineering, preferably in eyewear, automotive, or high-precision consumer goods. In-depth knowledge of painting technologies for both plastic and metal materials, including solvent- and water-based systems. Experience with automated painting systems, paint robots, and environmental control systems. Proficiency in lean manufacturing tools, SPC, FMEA, and root cause problem-solving. Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills. Experience with color control, adhesion testing, and paint durability evaluation. Familiarity with ERP systems and digital dashboards for OEE tracking. Lean Manufacturing knowledge Good English communication skills (verbal and written)
