Seeking your expertise as a Senior Operations Officer with extensive experience in terminal operations, logistics, or a similar industrial setting, with a proven track record in a senior management capacity to join this exceptional project team based in Durban, Kwazulu-Natal.
Job Summary You will be instrumental in assessing the condition of chemical pipelines lines, managing expert contractors, and ensuring all legal and safety requirements are strictly met. Oversee projects to salvage valuable equipment. Spearhead optimization projects from concept to completion, working closely with internal and external stakeholders (including local authorities for excavations and road closures) to streamline our operations and maximize efficiency. You will be responsible for producing detailed reports on pipeline conditions for insurance purposes. Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage the process of establishing the condition of chemical pipelines, from initial assessment to final remediation. Oversee and manage contractors involved in the condition assessment and remediation of underground chemical lines, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budget, and quality standards. Develop and implement robust project plans for all pipeline-related activities, ensuring seamless execution. Drive and enforce all legal and safety requirements for executing the condition assessment of underground chemical lines, ensuring a safe working environment at all times. Manage projects focused on salvaging usable equipment from underground pipelines, optimizing resource recovery. Produce detailed reports for insurance purposes outlining the conditions of the underground lines. Qualifications and Skills Requirements: Mechanical or Chemical Engineering NQF level 7. Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in terminal operations, Engineering, or a related industrial environment, with a significant portion in a senior management role. Proven experience in managing complex projects, ideally involving hazardous materials or infrastructure. Strong understanding of relevant safety regulations and environmental compliance. Demonstrated ability to manage contractors and external vendors effectively. Excellent project planning, execution, and problem-solving skills. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders. Proficiency in producing detailed reports and documentation. Project Management experience.
