Senior Operations Manager, Operational Effectiveness
Uber
**About the Role**
The EMEA Mobility BizOps team is looking for a driven, analytical thinker to own the strategy, roadmap, and delivery of a suite of initiatives across process automation/simplification, the earner onboarding funnel and operational risk management.
The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of onboarding and earner access processes/tooling, has experience working across product, operations, legal/compliance teams and a track record of delivering measurable results. In this role, Seeing the Forest and the Trees will be crucial in order to navigate trade offs between competing priorities in light of the business’s overall objectives.
The EMEA market has been built upon many local operations standing up numerous siloed processes and policies that have not been centralised or made coherent across the region. This presents a huge opportunity to shape and streamline, scale and automate processes across the region and within Central Operations. At the same time, the EMEA mobility landscape is highly regulated, with each country, and sometimes each city having its own set of regulations. Compliance with legal and internal policy requirements is critical in building trust with regulators, earners and riders on the platform, and helps minimise the risk of disruption to the business.
The Senior Operations Manager for Operational Effectiveness, in partnership with the Operational Effectiveness Lead, will drive critical initiatives that directly impact business success. This high-value work will include streamlining workflows to boost productivity, releasing capacity across the region to increase efficiency and enable reinvestment in growth, enhancing process transparency to reduce operational risk, and implementing data-driven strategies to achieve best-in-class operations. The role is also responsible for shaping the policies and processes around earner access as well as compliance to external regulations and internal policies - enabling high intent and highly engaged earners to have the most optimum experience, accessing the platform in the most streamlined way possible whilst adhering to all local regulations.
**What the Candidate Will Do:**
- **Deliver improvements to the Earner Onboarding funnel** across EMEA markets - working closely with local teams and driving automation efforts.
- **Simplify and automate operational processes**, including transitioning them to the correct teams and automating them via Gen AI when appropriate.
- **Become the go-to expert for access and configuration tooling**, and continuously optimize processes for seamless earner onboarding and platform access through cross-functional collaboration (Local Operations, Product, Engineering, CommOps, Safety).
- **Configure documents and provide ongoing support** and issue resolution for all document-related operational changes and challenges.
- **Collaborate with Earner Access Product teams** to set strategic priorities and drive innovation via regular touchpoints and product planning cycles to drive scalable product improvements
- **Control and manage operational risk** by building a framework to identify potential risky processes, trading off risk with growth, and implementing mitigation strategies when needed.
- **Train and empower key Local & Central Ops stakeholders** to upskill, independently troubleshoot issues and effectively manage earner funnel configurations.
- **Influence product roadmaps** on behalf of EMEA & Local Operations for functional teams
- **Understand unique market needs** within the broader company vision, prioritizing projects that optimize business impact and allocating resources effectively.
**What the Candidate Will Need / Basic Qualifications:**
- **5+ years of experience** in operations, product, strategy or consulting, of which **2+ years in operations** in an environment similar to Uber, ideally with experience in user onboarding and / or access.
- Experience leading cost-saving or operational efficiency initiatives.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; confident using data to make decisions and build business cases.
- Hands-on experience driving operational transformation - process design, automation, or improvement.
- Proven ability to manage complex programs and multiple projects in parallel.
- Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management - you are able to rally people behind a common goal and easily generate consensus if you’re facing push back.

- You are comfortable dealing with uncertainty in a constantly-changing work environment.
- Strategic & operational problem solving and creativity - you will design solutions that scale to multiple markets.
