Job Description
Serves to advance science and standards of care for patients, healthcare providers, and payers.Focuses on medical and scientific engagement with stakeholders (researchers, healthcare professionals, payers, and providers).Communicates and facilitates dialogue about AbbVie’s products and compounds in development in a strictly scientific, non-promotional manner and in full compliance with relevant regulations and company policies.Enhances scientific credibility by supporting scientific dialogue and collaborations, including research and medical/scientific exchange.Participates in initiation, oversight, and follow-up of clinical studies and medical projects within the Medical Department.Acts as the point of contact for thought leaders to facilitate investigator-initiated studies and requests.Delivers scientific presentations to physicians and supports the internal team with scientific expertise.Participates in identifying and engaging qualified thought leaders for collaborative efforts.Facilitates medical and scientific field intelligence and attends scientific meetings and conferences.Ensures all activities are conducted in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
Qualifications
Pharmacist or master’s degree required; advanced degree preferred (Pharm D, MD/DO, PhD, PA or NP, BSN), with a doctorate strongly preferred in a health science or clinical discipline. Significant industry experience may be accepted instead.3 or more years of experience as an MSL required.Experience in developing and maintaining expert knowledge in the therapeutic area and medical research in general.Solid knowledge of the pharmaceutical environment and Medical Affairs’ role within it.Demonstrated expertise in scientific methods and current legislative/regulatory controls relevant to clinical research.Excellent written and spoken communication and presentation skills, with the ability to build collaborative relationships.Good understanding of written and oral English is desirable.High customer orientation and strong commitment to compliance, scientific quality, and integrity.
