As a key member of our fast-growing cardiology department, you’ll work alongside a dedicated, multidisciplinary cardiac care team to support physicians in delivering outstanding patient care. From assisting with both clinical and clerical responsibilities to serving as a team lead on day-to-day workflow and procedures, your experience will help shape the future of our practice.

Responsibilities:

Coordinate daily schedules and patient flow. Accompany patients to exam or procedure rooms and assist with mobility, dressing, specimen collection, and exam preparation. Collect patient histories, vital signs, and perform screenings in accordance with provider guidelines. Communicate care instructions clearly to patients and families to ensure understanding and continuity of care. Send and receive patient medical records in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other state and federal regulations. Prepare patient rooms and set up instruments and equipment in accordance with department protocols. Clean exam and procedure rooms, instruments, and equipment between patient visits to ensure proper infection control. Follow scheduled maintenance programs for cleaning and maintain accurate records. Manage supply inventory and restock exam and procedure rooms as needed. Comply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e. OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health) and all UPMC Health System policies and procedures. Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data. Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, level one labs, and clinic procedures in accordance with established policies and procedures. Assist physicians with clinical procedures to support patient care. Document patient information accurately and thoroughly in the medical record. Answer calls and provide pertinent information, including patient education, as directed. Obtain lab and x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, and complete necessary forms and requisitions. Schedule patient appointments and coordinate follow-up as needed. Verify insurance coverage and confirm patient demographics for accuracy. Prepare and manage patient charts to ensure all information is complete, up-to-date, and properly filed. Perform other front office responsibilities as required. Administer injectable medication and vaccines when appropriate under the direction and supervision of a physician.
