This opportunity entails being responsible for the production and review of design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans and specifications for assigned projects. This position works with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and architects to perform research, development, calculations, design and delivery. Applies engineering techniques, procedures and design criteria for complex and cross-discipline projects. Leverages technical knowledge and experience to address design related issues or concerns, working closely with the project manager acting as a discipline lead through creative problem solving, interactions with clients and by completing tasks to meet the project schedule. Develops conceptual and detailed designs and calculations to support the project completion using current drawing and technical tools, programs and software. Performs field inspections and develops reports and cost estimates for clients such as Miami-Dade Aviation Department (MDAD) and Miami-Dade Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW). Mentors, trains and reviews work of junior engineer staff and provides constructive feedback. As a member of the team, you will contribute to the successful project delivery for a diverse range of projects for HNTB’s clients.

What You'll Do:

Uses senior-level technical expertise to consider broad range of engineering solutions.Responsible for the discipline-specific planning, work distribution, and leadership and adherence to the schedule, and budget on complex or unusual engineering projects.Assists in marketing responsibilities, including proposal generation.Develops scope of work and level of effort and manages adherence to scope and budget on complex or unusual engineering projects within discipline.Oversees completeness and accuracy of project team’s work within the technical discipline.Provides technical guidance and mentoring to team members to achieve overall project objectives on complex or unusual engineering projects.Coordinates technical aspects of the project with client counterpart and teaming partners at staff level for work within the discipline on complex or unusual engineering projects.Leads discipline delivery on larger, multi-disciplinary projects. Works closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.Assists with coordination and planning of schedules, hours, and distribution of work for other disciplines on multi-discipline projects on complex or unusual engineering projectsPerforms other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 8 years of relevant experience, orMaster’s degree in Engineering and 7 years of relevant experience, orPhD in Engineering and 6 years of relevant experience

What You'll Bring:

Shows excellent technical knowledge and quality work in multiple discipline projects with architects and engineers by preparing plumbing and mechanical drawings and specificationsPrioritizes tasks and displays accountability to the project team to deliver projects that are of high quality, on-time, and within budget and scope, and to the client's satisfactionPerforms plumbing and mechanical engineering analyses (such as heating/cooling, flow rate, pressure, pipe sizing calculations) and designs for one or more of the following building or facility systems: hydraulic systems, pumping/piping/plumbing systems, and HVAC systemsInspects existing building or facility assets and equipment to determine their condition and safety. Makes recommendations concerning any needed modifications and repairsLeads and independently designs and completes tasks required of the plumbing and mechanical disciplines across various projects. Manages time, forecasts and communicates discipline project development needsDesigns plumbing and mechanical plans within an engineering consulting environmentSupports projects during design, procurement, and construction phases. Responds to bidder’s questions and contractor’s RFIs. Reviews shop drawings, and inspects work for conformance with plansCreates detailed project proposals, scopes of work, work plans, and fee estimates for Mechanical and Plumbing disciplinesReviews engineering plans for compliance with applicable codes, guidelines, and standardsAssists in developing design and commissioning guidelinesDemonstrates vision beyond the task at hand and anticipates risks and effects of their actionsUnderstands and supports the objectives that are responsible for successful project delivery, recognizing how multiple disciplines influence project development. Coordinates with other disciplines to ensure consistency in deliverables.Uses refined technical skills to identify problems, develop appropriate solutions, and make good decisions, by knowing what tools to use for effective solutions and optimal outcomes on multi-discipline projectsApplies an accrued knowledge base to innovate project efficiencies. Optimizes workflow and design processes by using knowledge of the most effective and efficient ways to get things done with a focus on continuous team improvement

What We Prefer:

10+ years of relevant experienceProfessional Engineer (PE) LicenseIn-depth knowledge and experience with Florida Building, Mechanical and Plumbing CodesIn-depth knowledge and experience with Fire Protection, Fire Suppression, and Florida Fire Prevention CodePrior Aviation, Industrial, or Transportation ExperienceProficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and Bluebeam
