Expected Salary: $86,879 to $106,185
In determining the final salary, Babcock will consider a variety of factors including the successful Candidate’s skills and experience and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company’s sole discretion and be presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.

In this role, you will:
Be responsible for the occupational Health & Safety of all direct reports, as assigned. Provide leadership, oversight, and management for a team of intermediate and junior engineers, as well as technologists. Technically lead multidisciplinary teams to develop the installation design and integration of new and replacement equipment related to platform systems within the Victoria Class Submarines and other Naval platforms. Complete, and where necessary oversee, a variety of technical and non-technical activities which may include proposals for new work, feasibility studies, concept/detailed designs, drawings, and calculations. Ensure that appropriate engineering assurance, verification and approval is undertaken for all assigned engineering tasks or projects. Undertake engineering assessments of minor structural components related to mechanical systems, including brackets, seats, foundations, and supports. This includes evaluating load paths, assessing structural captivity, verifying compliance with relevant codes and standards, and documenting engineering rationale. Communicate engineering subjects, issues, solutions and risks effectively to all stakeholders (i.e. technical and non-technical stakeholders). Develop knowledge of Defence Standards, Military Specifications, Engineering Change Policy and other relevant guiding principles in the design and integration of submarine specific systems and other marine platforms.
The ideal candidate brings:
An engineering degree in Mechanical, Marine, or other applicable discipline from an accredited post-secondary institution. Registration as a Professional Engineer (PEng) with the applicable provincial association. 8+ years of relevant experience as a Mechanical or Marine Engineer. 4+ years’ experience in systems integration and design in a marine, defence, or a related complex and safety critical industry. 4+ years’ experience authoring and conducting comprehensive reviews of technical documents. 4+ years of experience conducting Finite Element Analysis, including Linear / Non-linear Static, Transient Dynamic; and Modal is highly preferred. Superior verbal and written communication skills, including writing formal reports, making presentations, and providing technical leadership and guidance to others. Submarine platform systems experience or high assurance and complex design environment experience (e.g. nuclear, aerospace, etc.) is an asset. Experience working in a shipyard and knowledge of shipyard safe work practices is an asset. Familiarity with the standards that control mechanical design elements of the Victoria Class submarines would be considered an asset. Ability to undertake seating and foundation design. Familiarity with welded, bolted, and bonded joints. Experience in full life cycle engineering product development, including knowledge of systems engineering standards and experience conducting system design and development within an ISO 15288 framework, or similar engineering management framework, would be considered an asset. You are eligible for a Canadian Secret Security Clearance, Controlled Goods Program positively assessed, and ITAR Clearance
