Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and optimization of mechanical components and assemblies. The role focuses on ensuring these components meet rigorous criteria for reliability, manufacturability, and cost efficiency. This position requires a strong in mechanical design, team leadership, and hands-on engineering.
ResponsibilitiesDesign and optimize mechanical components including rotating components, hydraulic actuators, trailers, and electronic equipment/cabinets.Utilize advanced CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD) to create detailed models and drawings.Conduct advanced finite element analysis using tools like COMSOL and ABACUS to predict stress, strain, and fatigue.Leverage knowledge of manufacturing processes, such as machining, welding, and additive manufacturing, to ensure design feasibility.Analyze and select materials based on application requirements, considering stress, fatigue, and environmental factors.Lead product design projects from requirements definition through to manufacturing and qualification.Mentor and inspire a team of mechanical engineers, fostering innovation and collaboration.Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, electrical engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance.Engage directly in prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting to validate designs.Lead the design and implementation of fixtures, jigs, and other tools for manufacturing and testing processes.Conduct design reviews and provide technical assistance to internal departments, suppliers, and customers.Travel to customer sites domestically and internationally for site surveys and acceptance testing.Essential SkillsExpertise in SolidWorks or equivalent CAD software for creating precise 3D models and detailed engineering drawings.Extensive manufacturing experience, including machining, welding, and additive manufacturing.Proficiency in finite element analysis tools such as COMSOL or ANSYS.Strong experience in mechanical engineering, electro-mechanical systems, and design optimization.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor's or Master's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.15+ years of experience in mechanical engineering with a focus on design and team leadership.In-depth expertise in material science, stress analysis, fatigue, fracture mechanics, and manufacturing processes.Hands-on experience in prototyping, fixture design, and testing.Thorough knowledge of GD&T and ANSI Y14.5 standards.Excellent communication skills for conveying complex technical information.Experience with ISO 9000 standards and Six Sigma processes is a plus.Work Environment
The role involves working in a dynamic environment that requires travel to military and private sector customer sites both domestically and internationally. The candidate will engage in hands-on engineering tasks within a collaborative team setting, utilizing state-of-the-art technologies and equipment.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $55.29 - $67.31/hr.
