The ADG CCS Engineering team is seeking to hire an experienced Mechanical Engineer to work on custom engineering opportunities that enable the sale of standard NI Products! The primary responsibilities of this position are to work with NI customers, sales personnel, R&D Engineering and Alliance Partners to define, document, design and deploy NI products tailored to meet specific customer requirements for large scale turnkey engineering solutions. The ideal candidate has experience and knowledge regarding NI products and system level design!
In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
This is a multi-functional role dealing with diverse engineering needs, including the ability to gather requirements, generate specification documents, interface with alliance partners and internal personnel to design and deploy solutions worldwide. This is a high visibility role within NI requiring daily interaction with NI customers, NI Alliance Partners, NI Sales Teams, NI Engineering Teams, and Executive Management. The role will include:
· Generating requirements documents and generating statements of work
· Specifying, designing, prototyping, testing, and deploying turnkey automated test and measurement solutions
· Defining and implementing project plans; managing milestones and holding reviews to assure systems meet requirements and readiness for deployment.
· Designing/modeling /prototyping mechanical system components for test and measurement solutions
· Traveling as needed (possibly up to 25%) domestically and abroad in support of project objectives
Qualifications:
· BS Degree: in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics
· Minimum of 8 years relevant industry experience in a Mechanical Design Role
· US Person (US Citizen or Green Card) ONLY, ability to work on ITAR projects and qualify for DoD Clearances
· Thorough understanding of fundamental mechanical design principles and process
· Intimate knowledge of 2D & 3D design tools i.e., Pro/E, SolidWorks
· Proficient with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles
· Excellent oral and written communication skills
· History of generating Statements of Work and design documentation
· Successful history of working with external suppliers
Preferred Qualifications:
· Familiar with fixture and tool design
· Familiar with thermal analysis and stress analysis
· Knowledge of FMEA and RCCA methodologies
· Knowledge of fabrication techniques (machining, stamping, extrusion, casting, sheet metal layout, etc.)
· Knowledge of ESD principles
· Basic knowledge of electrical design principles i.e., grounding, shielding, cable design
